Mumbai : Bigg Boss 16 is turning interesting now. Not just fights and fun, twists and turns, but even love is in the air of the BB house as Tina Datta finally confessed that she likes Shalin Bhanot. On the other hand, in a shocking move last night Bigg Boss fired Shiv Thakare from the captain’s position and hired ‘most mischievous’ contestant Archana Gautam as the new captain of the house.
While we await to see how tables are going to turn under Archana’s captaincy, we hear that makers are gearing up for the first wild card entry. Speculations are rife that eliminated contestant Sreejita De will be making an entry as a wild card contestant after Diwali i.e., in the upcoming week.
For the unversed, Sreejita got eliminated from Bigg Boss 16 in the second week itself after failing to impress the audience. It seems like makers are planning to give her a second chance to prove herself on national TV.
Apart from Sreejita, rumours have it that Bigg Boss OTT 1 contestant Ridhima Pandit’s entry is also on the cards. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
Meanwhile, Salman Khan will not be seen hosting this ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episodes as the actor is down with severe dengue. Karan Johar, who hosted Bigg Boss OTT’s debut will be seen taking over BB 16 stage.

According to the Radio Times, the UK version of the Smithsonian Channel will cease broadcasting on 6th January 2023.
The final programme to be broadcast is listed as 'Earth under Water' 5am-6am on 6th January.

Well thats a bummer, one of my favourites. Do you know if its going somewhere else?

Programmes moving to Paramount+, they might also keep the free selection on My5 .

I've got SKY Cinema and its free with that. Once I go through the log-in system.
Was thinking of dropping the cinema package, bit of a dilemma now.

Everything seems to be going to Paramount plus not much point having the normal sky package now yet more money to have to pay its another £8 a month if I buy it but a new 18 month contract

I think this happened to the channel in the US too, it appears as a tab on their Paramount+ app
NatGeo likely isn't that far behind now.

I’ve enjoyed watching it but the amount of new programming (most of the the stuff has been repeated umpteen times) doesn’t justify me seeking it out elsewhere with a subscription.

In my opinion the closing of these channels just goes to prove how little value Sky has become now.

I don't think Peacock UK will exist , the original content they own can go into Sky portfolio of channels.

Peacock UK really is rubbish anyway. It seems to want to be put out of its misery.

A bit of a shame as a lot of their programming is good quality, although as noted, frequently repeated.
I don't suppose being on unfavourable EPG slots on all the platforms it's carried on helped its viewing figures. Although I wouldn't subscribe to Paramount+, at least its programmes will still be available there for those who want it.

Poo, what a shame, like the channel and has some good programming on there.

That's bloomin' annoying. Only it and PBS America show anything like decent docus now and even they are sometimes spoiled by the usual OTT music, weird visuals etc.

I really like the content on this channel and will certainly miss it when it goes. I feel in time more and more of what I can get on freesat will shrink and you will be almost forced into subscribing to a streaming services in order to get good content. Although not opposed to that I would like it then to be virtually ad free.

“From 5th January 2023, the Smithsonian Channel in the UK will move exclusively to Paramount’s popular streaming services, to reflect the way viewers consume our specialist programming and ensure its content is available to the widest possible audience.
“Smithsonian Channel programming will continue to have a strong presence on Paramount+ and My5, and we plan to launch a new branded channel on the leading free streaming service, Pluto TV, in the near future
