“ Sounds engineer has no clue what their doing. ”
Had outdoor festival sound. It sounded like the sound engineer broke the low end nob for the kick drum off the board stuck at eleven. Every measure was so full of bass from the kick drum my clothes were shaking. I could feel the harmony changing but most of what the band was playing the entire night was a complete wash of sound. Really disappointing to have been at the Cory Wong show and completely miss everything they played.
Sound in the balcony is terrible! Saw Nikki Glaser and couldn't hear the show. Huge disappointment. Bought the tickets for my husbands birthday and what a waste of time. Would not recommend this venue unless you are sitting right up front!

We attended an outdoor adventure movie screening here the other night. The theater, while showing its' age, is a classic beauty. We sat in the balcony on the front row for a great view and acoustics. A great venue for concerts also with many places to eat nearby and a parking garage a couple of blocks away.

This is a great historical venue. We booked our tickets on stubhub, got front row seating. Thoroughly enjoyed the show. This is the 3rd state we have seen this group. The place, although older, was well kept, well organized, and an intimate setting. We walked from our hotel on the Port side and felt safe the entire time. Portland is Maine’s great little city!

The seating in the balcony was build for children and small adults. The seats are narrow and there is no leg room. We saw tall men who either had to stand or sit on the stairs because there is no way their legs would have fit in the small space. There is no air conditioning and it was very hot. The concert was great, and the staff was pleasant-but I wouldn’t go back, especially in the summer.

My wife and I are disabled. She has a bad knee and I have diabetic foot ulcers. The website has the following total lie: "Unless a show is advertised as reserved seated, our shows are general admission and standing room only on the Main Auditorium Floor. We do have two balconies that are seated that offer great views. Patrons with special needs should call 207.956.6000 in advance to make arrangements. For reserved seated show, our auditorium is fully seated up to stage. Click to view State Theatre seating chart.” I called months before last night’s New Year’s Eve concert. I was actually able to speak to someone. I asked if my wife and I need to bring walkers to sit on during the show. The person assured me that we did not need to bring walkers, and if we arrived early for the doors, we would be accommodated. We drove three hours and booked a hotel for the weekend. Twiddle’s concert was announced as “Doors at 8, Starts at 9.” We arrived at 7:20 p.m. When we got to the venue, the line was already stretching around the block. We waited, all we had to sit on was a wet concrete wall opposite the venue. We sat until 9:00 p.m. outside. Our asses were wet and cold. At 9:00 p.m. the line still stretched out the door, down the block past the church and around the corner. We figured that the reserved seats were all taken by the huge crowd, and we just left deciding to stream the show. We lost our ticket and parking, gas and hotel money, and New Years Eve was totally ruined. I am so pissed off I hope nobody ever patronizes this theatre and the owners lose a lot of money. F this joint! I am never coming back for so long as I live.

They don’t answer the phone and you can’t leave voicemail. They do not return emails. I am disabled. I tried for hours to reach someone to see about disabled access to a concert last night. We ended up missing the concert and losing ticket and parking money because no one could help us. It’s a terrible way to treat people.

Old vaudeville type theater. Decent place to see a show. I have heard old theaters with better acoustics, though. I had an unopened bottle of Pepsi that I asked the doorman if I could bring it in. He said I could as long as he could take the cap off the unopened bottle. He opened it and I brought it in. Not five steps into the lobby and another bouncer rushed up to me and said I couldn't have the soda. I showed him the guy that took the top off and went inside to my seat. A few minutes later I went back to the lobby and the bouncer approached me again and told me to get rid off the soda. Again I showed him the person who said it was ok and he said "Well, I'm the guy that's telling you you can't." I had no choice but to toss the bottle away. Been going to shows for over 45 years and haven't had a drink in 25 years. Don't know what the bouncers problem was but it ruined the show for me. I Sold my ticket for the Friday show and will never return. I would have directly written the theater with my complaint but could find nowhere on their website to write.

Drove across three states to see someone I've waited a year to see. The talent was incredible however it was completely ruined by this dump of a theatre. First, the place is about selling drinks to drunks who are there to drink and ruin your good time. People buy the cheap seats, in order to get in have a good time but then they try to sit in high pay seats if you get up. The bar is actually inside the auditorium so as you are listening to your favorite musician play an instrumental you get to hear the wonderful sounds of bar atmosphere, blenders, things falling over, people talking, ice machines dropping ice for drunks, did I mention the drunks talking loudly? The seats are small, its hot, people smoke inside and no one says anything. The ONE bathroom is circa 1932, the urinals are the off the wall ones so every gets to urinate in front of the 50+ crowd gathered there to go since there is only one bathroom, the toilet stalls have no doors so if you really have to go #2 lets hope you aren't shy. Nothing like paying 50 bucks for a concert and getting to watch a drunk wipe his butt as he staggers out of the stall. Seriously this place is a time warp. The parking garage is a disaster. Everyone leaves at the same time and these rocket scientists have a single pay station that a thousand people are lined up at once to pay. Its also a no re-entry, when you walk in you are immediately asked if you are going to be drinking or not. If you are they band you, in other words if you forgot something in your car too bad for you, you cant get back in as the bar doesn't want to card people that look under age more than once. Its dirty, the seats have tape with hand writing on them to identify them so people spend half the concert fighting over the fact they are sitting in the right seats. It basically went on for the entire concert. I've seen hundreds of concerts and I would never go back here. I can overlook a lot of things but interrupting the performer by throwing stuff in a bar sink is unacceptable. Seriously who is in charge of this place? They are lucky I don't sue to get my money back.

When you drive hours to see your favorite artist in a small theater you expect to be able to enjoy the talents of the artist in an intimate setting. This theater was one of the worst concert experiences I've had in 35 years. The management is more interested in making money on selling booze then providing a positive experience for everyone. they actually have the bar in the theater. This results in an endless stream of people moving about, talking loudly, using phones and generally being rude, distracting and disrespectful to everyone. Especially the artist who was works hard to put on a great performance. In this case Ian Anderson an iconic talent who took the time to come to remote places like Maine to cater to his loyal fan base. I fear he will never return to our state after being disrespected by the management practices of this venue. I will never go to this venue again

Looking at tickets for Papa Roach. Tickets are listed as General Admission, but there are price differences along with areas, ex: Orch1, GA. The seats didn't look removable from the photos, so what's the deal with GA?
There is no onsite parking. There is on-street parking in the area if you can find it. However, on High street, there is a parking garage. It cost us $20.00 for 3 hours.
Would like advice on best seating? Which level or seats give best concert experience?
My personal opinion I would sit in the lower balcony. center, the first couple of rows. The floor level is fairly flat and for my neck and height, it wouldn't work for me.
