Our first installment features 20 of the most memorable scenes from feature films.
We know: we've been teasing this one for a while now! Unlike with the more common gag types, where we had so many options that we basically threw up our hands and "subcontracted" to a third-party curator, this time we decided to take complete ownership—but there were still so many fine candidates that it took us a while to get all our clips in a row.
Not too long ago, that would never have been the case. The first widely noted damsel to turn up with a ball gag in a mainstream Western film was Teri Weigel in Night Visitor (1989), though Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1974) may be allowed on a technicality, and Japan's Shiryô no wana/Evil Dead Trap (1988) was likewise ahead of its time. But you could count the relevant scenes on one hand until a certain smash hit came along and changed the whole "ball" game.
That movie, of course, was Pulp Fiction (1994). While the infamous "gimp" won't appeal to most of our visitors, there's no denying his influence: a bondage accessory which previously had been considered too kinky for mainstream entertainment quite suddenly began to find new popularity with directors who wanted to bring a certain edginess to their work.
And today, here we are, with no less than Ariana Grande ball-gagging herself in a comedic cameo from Zoolander 2 (2016), and so many good scenes to choose from that only one of the four we've mentioned so far even made the cut for today's playlist (though all four can be found on the site).
For this first installment, we're focusing exclusively on feature films: TV episodes will be coming around in part two. If you simply can't wait, the search bar and the "ball gag" tag are your friends!
Finally, please note that three of the films featured here— Love Object (2003), The Disappearance of Alice Creed (2009), and its remake Reckless (2014)—include so many scenes of interest that we needed two clips to do them justice, though for the sake of variety, only the first clip is on the playlist. A male model blackmailed Cindy Crawford with a photograph of her seven-year-old daughter gagged and tied to a chair.
Edis Kayalar allegedly told the 43-year-old supermodel he would hand the image to the media unless she gave him £60,000.
The photo had been taken by a nanny during a children's game at the family home in Los Angeles, according to court papers filed by the FBI.

Accused: Edis Kayalar allegedly stole a photo of the model's daughter from the nanny and used it in an extortion bid
Kayalar, a 26-year-old German, is believed to be in Stuttgart following his deportation from the U.S. three months ago for a visa offence.
The FBI is in touch with the authorities in Berlin with a view to extraditing him on a single charge of extortion.
The photo is thought to have been taken earlier this year and shows Miss Crawford's daughter Kaia 'in revealing clothing, bound to a chair and gagged'.
Kaia told her parents, who had not known of the photo, that it was taken playing cops and robbers.
The nanny who took the picture had also written a note saying: 'The baby sitter went crazy and tied everyone up and they need your help! Please.'
She said she had taken the photo as a prank and was going to post it and the note on the front door of the family's home, according to the affidavit.
The nanny, whose name has not been released, is not under suspicion. She was fired a week before Kayalar made his demand and details of her relationship with him were unclear last night. According to the legal documents filed at the U.S. district court in Los Angeles, Kayalar stole the photo and note from her.
The German allegedly started threatening Miss Crawford and her businessman husband Rande Gerber in July. He initially said he wanted to return the photo because he was 'a good person and didn't want to see it land in the tabloids'.
Mr Gerber later met Kayalar at a bar and was shown a copy of the image. He handed the model £600 'for his trouble' and was given the photograph in return.
The family were spotted together in Malibu last week
But Kayalar is then said to have made further demands on the basis of having further copies.
He called Miss Crawford and Mr Gerber from Germany on November 1 and threatened to sell or release the photo.
Kayalar said he 'was not trying to destroy a little girl's life, but the release of the photograph was not going to be something positive for the victims' image,' according to the court documents.
He would face up to two years in prison if convicted of extortion.
Last night, Miss Crawford's spokesman Annett Wolf issued a statement saying: 'Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter.'
The model, who divorced Richard Gere in 1995, married Mr Gerber in 1998, and they live in Malibu, California.
Their daughter is now eight. They also have a son, Presley, who is ten.
