The Sun Bowl is a college football bowl game that has been played since 1935 in the southwestern United States at El Paso, Texas. Along with the Sugar Bowl and Orange Bowl, it is the second-oldest bowl game in the country, behind the Rose Bowl. Usually held near the end of December, games are played at the Sun Bowl stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at El Paso. Since 2011, it has featured teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the Pac-12 Conference. This arrangement will continue through the 2025 season, with either Pac-12 schools, or Pac-12 "legacy schools" (the 10 schools that have left the conference in 2024 for the Big Ten, Big 12, and ACC) fulfilling previous Pac-12 bowl obligations for the next two seasons. From 2019 to 2022, the game was sponsored by Kellogg's; when Kellogg's spun off its North American cereal division in October 2023, the sponsorship transferred to WK Kellogg Co. The game is officially known as the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, after the mascot for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes cereal. Previous sponsors include John Hancock Financial, Norwest Corporation, Wells Fargo, Helen of Troy Limited (using its Vitalis and Brut brands) and Hyundai Motor Company.

Floyd Casey Stadium was a stadium in Waco, Texas. The stadium was used for 64 seasons before being replaced by McLane Stadium in 2014. It was primarily used for football and was the home field of the Baylor Bears. The stadium, located about four miles from the Baylor University campus, cost $1.8 million to build and sat 50,000 people. Originally named Baylor Stadium, it opened in 1950 with a Baylor game against the Houston Cougars. On December 7, 2013, Baylor played its last game in the stadium, against the Texas Longhorns, where the attendance record of 51,728 was established. Baylor won 19 of its final 20 games played at the stadium. Originally known as Baylor Stadium, the stadium was renamed at halftime of the November 5, 1988, homecoming game when it was renamed for Floyd Casey by his son, university trustee and longtime booster Carl B. Casey of Dallas, who gave US$5 million towards an $8 million stadium renovation project. The stadium was renovated several times. Turf was first introduced to the stadium in 1972. Then in 1998, the stadium installed SportGrass, a leading artificial grass surface. In 2005, it underwent massive renovations to extend the Grant Teaff Plaza in honor of former head coach Grant Teaff. The extended plaza created much-needed updates to the stadium's façade. The stadium was an elongated oval shape, running southeast-northwest, with large grandstands on the sidelines. The south end zone was cleared, with athletic marks painted on the ground and the large LED scoreboard behind it. (Prior to the creation of the current athletic marks, the area was painted gold, with "BAYLOR" painted in large green block letters.) In 2004, a large tarp was installed that covered the south end zone and could be removed when ticket demand necessitated it. With the tarp in place seating capacity was reduced to 47,000. The north end zone had seating in front of the Carl & Thelma Casey Athletic Center, site of the football offices, training facilities, and stadium field house. Prior to the building of the stadium, the Baylor football team played at Carroll Field, an on-campus field last used in 1935, and Waco's Municipal Stadium on Dutton Avenue. In the spring of 2012, Baylor regents approved a new on-campus stadium to be built on the Brazos River adjacent to Interstate 35. The demolition of the stadium was completed on May 14, 2016.

Grant Garland Teaff (; born November 12, 1933) is a former American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at McMurry University (1960–1965), Angelo State University (1969–1971), and Baylor University (1972–1992), compiling a career college football record of 170–151–8. In his 21 seasons as head coach of the Baylor Bears football team, Teaff's teams won two Southwest Conference titles and appeared in eight bowl games. His 128 wins are the most of any coach in the history of the program. Teaff was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 2001.

He is the head football coach at Highland Park High School in Dallas, Texas, and is the winningest active high school football coach in Texas with 446 victories through the end of the 2023 season. He is currently second in victories to retired coach Phil Danaher who has 490 wins.

List of Baylor Bears head football coaches
The Baylor Bears football program is a college football team that represents Baylor University in the Big 12 Conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The team has had 25 head coaches since it started playing organized football in 1899. Baylor was a charter member of the Southwest Conference (SWC), joining in 1915. They later became a charter member of the Big 12 in 1996 when the SWC disbanded. After playing without a nickname for 15 years, the school chose Bears as the team nickname in 1914. There were three seasons where Baylor did not field a team. In 1906, the university banned football due to the violent nature of the sport. However, student protests persuaded school officials to reinstate it the next year. In 1943 and 1944, the school canceled the football program due to World War II. The Bears have played in 1,099 games during their 108 seasons. In those seasons, ten coaches have led Baylor to postseason bowl games: Bob Woodruff, George Sauer, Sam Boyd, John D. Bridgers, Grant Teaff, Chuck Reedy, Art Briles, Jim Grobe, Matt Rhule, and Dave Aranda. Six coaches have won conference championships with the Bears: Charles P. Mosley, Frank Bridges, Teaff, Reedy, Briles, and Aranda. Teaff is the all-time leader in years coached (21), games coached (239), and wins (128). R. H. Hamilton has the highest winning percentage of any Baylor coach, with a 5–1–1 record (.786) during his two-year tenure. Bill Beall is, in terms of winning percentage, the worst coach the Bears have had, winning only 3 of his 31 games (.097). Of the 25 Baylor coaches, 2 have been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame: Teaff and Morley Jennings. Teaff is also the only coach to have received any coach of the year accolades, winning two national coach of the year award in 1974 and the conference coach of the year award twice. The current coach is Dave Aranda who was hired in 2020
