Graham was on his way to pressure Trump into more sanctions, which with the Iran war are now not sustainable.
So if you want to take control of the Senate (again), you’d need him gone. Graham also opposed any concessions and serious peace talks with Russia.
Bluntly said, the Trump administration wanted to get rid of him and the Russians too, of course.
Graham wanted full war with Russia and Iran … while confronting China. Impossible.
If you ask me it’s possible the Trump administration got rid of him on the way back, good time and Russians would be blamed … or the Russians struck the stone factory.
Both are possible. Both parties wanted him gone, as he was the strongest warmonger with actual power in the Senate.
Trump and Putin both saw Graham as obstacle, in differ ways sure.
