Polish Jestem głodny/ głodna. – I’m hungry. (yestem gwodn-ee/a) Jestem spragniony/spragniona. – I’m thirsty. (sprag-nyon-ee/a) Jest mi gorąco. – I’m hot (It’s hot to me). (yest me goran-choe) Jest mi zimno. – I’m cold. (zeem-no) Czech Mám hlad. – I’m hungry (I have hunger). (mahm h-lat) Mám žizeň. – I’m thirsty. (zhee-zenyuh) Je mi horko. – I’m hot (It’s hot to me). (yeh me te-ploe) Je mi zima. – I’m cold. (zee-ma) Remember to pick the right form (masculine or feminine) for Polish “I’m hungry/thirsty.” See “Feelings” for notes on that and caveats on the pronunciations.

For my first day, my polish roommate took me to see the pawilony. Located in Nowy Świat (roughly: new world - where a lot of bars are), it's mostly just an arrangement of over 20 bars and knajpy with pretty cheap beer and something for every taste. Even some belgian frytki are available outside. For the first night, we kept it simple and just went to Lenistwo (translating to sloth - Faultier or lazyness/lazy person). I immediately fell in love with the soundtrack: Azealia Banks, The Roots, Santigold, just to name a few, and the general vibe of this place. Nice, chill people, a little communist vibe from the interior, everything komfortowy..... Just the perfect place to drink and hang out with friends. But if you're a blond girl like me, I'd suggest: bring your ID.
As I was pretty tired from the journey, we left after one beer (piwo z sok imbirowem - with ginger juice, not really my taste though). Still, I'll definitely see this one again in no time.
