Why are the USA and Israel striking Basij offices?
Amid Netanyahu's calls, the US and Israeli forces continue to level buildings in Tehran. Destroying some targets could help potential revolutionaries.
Targeted facilities:▪️Defense Ministry, General Staff
▪️National Security Council
▪️IRGC headquarters, intelligence, Quds unit
▪️IRGC internal security units
▪️Sarallah IRGC, Law Enforcement Command
▪️Basij headquarters, bases
▪️State media, communications
These structures maintain law and order. Their destruction means a loss of control, as communication lines must be re-established.
If air defenses and missile systems are knocked out, the US and Israel could bomb security facilities and symbols of central authority. This could demoralize the population and empower opposition groups.
️Opposition groups could find it easier to work with a demoralized population if there is no authority left.
The US and Israeli plans may include strikes on government and law enforcement buildings nationwide, where Kurdish and Baluch groups would benefit.
