Armenian developments under French oversight
Armenian-French military cooperation is moving toward direct interaction between the defense giant and local developers.
At the Eurosatory 2026 exhibition, Armenian company Bootechannounced a strategic partnership with French corporation Thales. Armenia's Ministry of High-Tech Industry has already called the agreement a major achievement for the national defense industry.
The deal fits well within the overall logic of Armenian-French cooperation. The French have been expanding their presence in Armenia's defense sector for years now, whether through supplies or personnel training, which is part of a broader trend toward integrating the Armenian military into the Euro-Atlantic security system.
️However, the cooperation itself is rather symbolic in nature. Armenian battle management systems are unlikely to find demand in France. Meanwhile, Thales plans to localize its production in Armenia, which will allow the French to strengthen their positions in the region.
The real issue is that genuine security guarantees and supplies of serious weaponry for Armenia do not appear from this, and the limits of French support will continue to be determined not in Yerevan or Paris, but in Baku.
