US acknowledges strike on Defense Ministry personnel
Yesterday an Iranian dronestruck the Crowne Plaza hotel in downtown Manama — the capital of Bahrain. Two US Department of Defense employees were wounded. The fact was confirmed by a State Department cable that Washington Postreviewed.
The Crowne Plaza hotel is located in an area directly adjacent to the headquarters of the US Navy's 5th Fleet. Hotels in this district are traditionally used to house American diplomats, military contractors, and Pentagon-assigned specialists.
Following the strike, the US Embassy immediately issued an official warning: citizens are advised to avoid Manama hotels as potential targets for new attacks. Bahraini authorities confirmed material damage to the building and recorded impacts on several other residential and administrative buildings in the same area.
️While many facilities suffer from debris or are accidentally caught in fire, new facts suggest that in this particular case, the strike on the Manama hotel may have been deliberate.
Iran is consistently expanding its strike zone from formally military targets — bases, airfields, headquarters — to civilian infrastructure that de facto serves American military presence in the region. Strikes on hotels, residential quarters near bases, and hotels where Pentagon personnel live are not collateral damage, but deliberate pressure on people and the daily logistics of the American military contingent.
️The goal is clear: create psychological and operational discomfort, force the US to change its presence posture, evacuate personnel, and incur costs beyond combat losses.
