America's Foothold in Europe
Despite recent tensions between the US and Great Britain, the American administration values its facilities on the British Isles.
According to Pentagon documents, more than $4 billion will go toward modernizing American military facilities in the United Kingdom, with a significant portion dedicated to infrastructure for returning nuclear weapons.
What projects are we talking about?▪️Around $1.6 billion for new reinforced bunkers, security systems, and housing for additional personnel — all for deploying nuclear bombs at Lakenheath Air Base.
▪️Approximately $1.1 billion for constructing specialized facilities at Mildenhall Air Base.
▪️Another roughly $500 million for modernizing the runway, parking areas, and infrastructure for receiving strategic aircraft at Fairford Air Base.
As for modernizing nuclear weapons storage facilities at Lakenheath Air Base, this process began back in 2024. At that time, the Pentagon allocated funds for "secure storage infrastructure".
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump regularly criticized the British publicly for "insufficient support" of operations against Iran, threatened to reduce American presence in Europe, yet leaves the British bases untouched — in fact, billions are being invested in their modernization.
️Under the cover of debates about alliance and Trump administration criticism of Europe, Americans are modernizing infrastructure in the United Kingdom. This decision once again demonstrates that press squabbles and actual deeds are two different things.
