An elegant way to tie your heel shoes to your feet

Another elegant way to tie your heel shoes to your feet

This tie is great for suspensions. It is a sort of boot that gives the foot enough support so as to give you the ability to use the tie to hold some of your partner's weight.

Basically a double column tie tied around your partner's thigh and ankle. You will need two ropes for this tie, one for each leg.

We begin with a frog tie and get a little creative after that. Simple and aesthetically pleasing, this futomomo (upper leg tie) is a blast to tie. The complexity lies mostly in that it is basically a decorative tie. It's functional components are minimum.

It follows the flow of the ropes seamlessly so it's very easy to remember how to tie. This is great if you want to use it in a private session without having to go check out the video to remember how it goes.

In the “Fishnet” lesson, we use our regular hemp rope to make the suspenders and black laces to make the fishnets. You are welcome to use laces to tie the suspenders as well. This will make the overall tie thin enough so you can wear a skirt over it and head out towards to outside world.

The loop-chain stockings should sound familiar. You will use the same weave as the loop-chain chest harness in the Shibari- INTERMEDIATE lesson.

1. Begin with a single-column tie around the ankle. I used the somerville bowline as the rope naturally flows perpendicularly from the cuff.

2. You can run the rope either to the inside of the leg…

3. …or the outside, depending on the look you want and where you are anticipating the greatest pressures will be

5. Some people like to do the second wrap directly next to the first so as to distribute the force a bit more at this point. This is a style and preference call. Most people just wrap it up evenly spaced as I show in the next step…

6. Wrap the rope in a spiral up the leg…

9. Bring the tail to cross the prior wrap at the point where the calf meets the thigh. We are going to connect the two with a Crossing Hitch (aka nodome or Munter Hitch) right here

10. All of our Crossing Hitches are going to begin by running the tail under the loop on the *thigh side. So to do that for the first Crossing Hitch, start with this acute angle…

11. …run your finger under the loop on the thigh side of the center line…

12. …hook the tail with that finger…

14. While you pull that first loop through, it likely moved away from this space where the calf meets the thigh (you can see it has done so in the previous picture). So move the loop back to this seam.

15. Lay the tail across the incoming center line.

16. Reach under the leg loop again and grab the tail

17. Pull the tail through and pull the completed Crossing Hitches tight

18. We are now just going to do a series of Crossing Hitches to help hold the spiral leg loops evenly spaced. Start every one of them on the thigh side…

19. …and adjust the spacing of the leg loops before you lock each Crossing Hitch

22. …and the next, confirming nice even spacing each time.

23. When you have completed the Crossing Hitch on your last leg loop, run the tail between the thigh and ankle…

25. And now we are going to do a series of Crossing Hitches on this side as well so that the leg loops are held at even spacing from both sides

26. Here I have added a Crossing Hitch to the first and second leg loops

27. …and now I have added Crossing Hitches to the 3rd and 4th leg loops

28. When you get to your last leg loop (the one closest to the knee), complete the Crossing Hitch as usual, but leave it a little loose for the moment

29. If you are almost out of rope as I am here, just feed the end through the loop of your Crossing Hitch here…

30. …like this. Then tighten. This turns it into a cow hitch and locks things off nicely.

This classic tie is used to bind the ankle tightly to the thigh and distribute the force of the tie across the entire leg. This variant looks amazing and is great for floor-level bondage!
You may also see people using it for suspensions from time to time, but it has been found to be unsafe for suspensions. A better choice is the Suspension Futomomo creates wider straps of rope and locks each.
Pros – Elegant and relatively simple, this tie severely limits your partner’s freedom. It can even be more comfortable than a simple double column tying the ankle to the thigh.
Cons – This can become painful if you are going to have your partner kneeling for extended periods. The ropes around the shins will dig in with the extra pressure of the body weight. Also, different bodies will have different tolerances for this. Depending on the details it is possible that a person’s own anatomy can impede their blood flow or nerve conduction when their leg is bent too far. Discuss this with your partner and confirm they are physically able to maintain this position before using a futomomo.
Notes – An important safety feature of the Futomomo is that no rope passes between the two parts of the leg except at the ankle. You never want to close a leg on rope or a knot; it can impede nerve conduction and blood flow.
For this tie, I used one 30′ (10m) piece of Natural 6mm (1/4″) hemp provided by my affiliate Twisted Monk .  Check them out for some amazing hemp rope!

Do a minimum of 3 wraps. 3-5 is pretty common. You can do more if your partner has particularly long legs…
If you happen to have a lot of rope left over, you can spiral that rope back down the center line to the ankle end of the bondage and even add another loop if needed to use up the rope. Any loop you create like this however is not load bearing. To see this rope consumption techniques in action, see the “Futomomo for Suspension” tutorial
I’ve been wondering — could you use this same tie for arms, with the first single-column around the wrist? Or would that be too risky for the brachial nerve?
The answer to that is entirely dependent on your partner. Some people could handle it just fine, others will have issues. This would be something to test with your partner.
