Don't know why it's different, but this year my dog is shedding about 4X as much as last year. The hair is all over the house and I've been bringing my work clothes downstairs in a plastic bag to put on just before I walk out the door, hoping to look presentable when I get to work. HOWEVER, I used it on my two couches and the living room carpet and it worked miracles - they look brand new. It's easy to use - just hold it in your hand and run it along the couch using medium pressure and the hair will form in little clumps. Removing the clumps was a bit of a pain because some hair was left behind. I wound up removing the clumps with the sticky paper that you use on clothing and it works just fine. This may sound like too much work, but it's really no big deal and it is hands down the best pet hair remover I've ever used! Try it, you won't regret it and it looks like it will last forever.
