**Fungal Infections Surge in Sydney Hospital: Experts Warn of Rising Threat**

Sydney’s major public hospital has reported a sharp increase in fungal infections, raising concerns among health experts. Over the past six months, cases of candidiasis, aspergillosis, and other fungal infections have surged, with some patients requiring intensive treatment. Doctors attribute the rise to weakened immune systems, widespread antibiotic use, and environmental factors like poor ventilation in hospitals.

Dr. Sarah Mitchell, an infectious disease specialist, warns that fungal infections are becoming more common, especially among elderly patients and those with chronic illnesses. 'We’re seeing more severe cases than ever before,' she says. 'Fungal infections used to be rare, but now they’re a growing threat, especially in hospitals where patients are already vulnerable.'
