Our client is a profitable US-based AI startup building AI-native SaaS products that solve real operational problems for businesses. Rather than creating demo AI applications, the team focuses on production-grade AI systems used daily by customers.
The engineering team is intentionally small, highly technical, and works directly with the founders. Engineers are expected to own products end-to-end, make architectural decisions independently, and ship production-ready software quickly.
This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving ambiguous technical problems, thinking from first principles, and building AI systems that are reliable at scale.
What You'll Build
You will work across the entire product stack, including AI infrastructure, backend services, frontend experiences, and cloud deployment.
Responsibilities include:
* Build production AI applications using modern LLM technologies
* Design scalable backend services with Python and FastAPI
* Develop frontend applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
* Build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
* Integrate OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source LLMs
* Design semantic search pipelines using vector databases
* Build streaming AI/chat experiences
* Optimize latency, scalability, observability, and production reliability
* Deploy applications using Docker and cloud infrastructure
* Work directly with founders to design product features and technical solutions
Must Have
* 3+ years professional software engineering experience
* Strong Python development experience
* Strong FastAPI experience
* React + TypeScript experience
* Experience building AI/LLM applications in production
* Experience building RAG systems
* Experience using vector databases
* Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or similar AI frameworks
* Experience owning products from design through production
* Experience working in startup environments
* Experience collaborating directly with founders or product managers
* Strong backend architecture fundamentals
* Strong communication skills in English
* Able to work during US timezone overlap
* Able to commit full-time without overlapping employment

Compensation
