NUMI is one of the largest on-demand grocery delivery service in East Africa. We delivered tens of thousands of orders in under 2 hours. In under 6 months from launch, we grew to 5x the traction of the online grocery departments of publicly traded companies.

Now they're focused on providing our Africa-first e-commerce stack to merchants looking to go online.


ABOUT CEO

Agree Ahmed is a self taught software engineer who became an engineer in Silicon Valley, and most recently the technical co-founder of a Y Combinator company. Previously led a 2-person engineering team that built the largest grocery delivery app in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He is going to be your supervisor.


UPCOMING CHALLENGES

∙ The work would involve building the core of an e-commerce engine:

∙ Building out our e-commerce content management system for merchants

∙ Maintaining the fulfillment app merchants use to manage their orders

∙ Building and managing integrations with cloud services, payment gateways, logistics APIs


EXPECTED SKILLS

∙ Experience building APIs in Node.js

∙ Experience maintaining a React codebase

∙ At least some experience with either Typescript (even a few weekend projects) or GraphQL

∙ Some experience with Javascript build systems (webpack, Create React App, React Native metro server, Serverless)

∙ Experience working on a remote team

∙ Experience with Agile

∙ Experience working on a project at the beginning



YOUR DAILY TASK ROUTINE

∙ React and React Native development in typescript

∙ Special projects for dev infrastructure (such as creating a cross-platform library for building apps that target both React Native (iOS, Android) and Next.js)

∙ Scaling and extending our Serverless GraphQL backend (improving DB performance, extending our GraphQL API auto-generator)
