Let's start with a quick refresher: "Doggy style is when one partner is positioned behind the other and penetrates their vagina or anus from behind, using a toy, penis, or finger," says McLaughlin. Typically, this happens with the receiving partner positioned in a hands-and-knees stance on all fours. But you've actually got options.
"Doggy style is an incredibly customizable rear-entry position," says Smith. "Doggy can be done standing, kneeling, lying on your side or your stomach, while bent over the couch, up against a wall…whatever strikes your fancy."

Named after the first doctor to describe it in medical literature, Ernst Gräfenber, the G-spot is a penny-sized pleasure-point that's about two inches deep on the front vaginal wall. You've probably heard you can find this spot by making a come-hither stroking motion with your fingers inside your vagina—this is true. But it can also be stimulated through doggy style sex.
"Your partner will be able to best hit your G-Spot if you lower your torso toward the bed," says McLaughlin. So, let your upper-body relax and ask to have your partner thrust slow and shallow. Remember, the G-spot is only an inch or two or three inside the vaginal wall, so no need to go drilling for treasure.
A few inches deeper than the aforementioned G-spot, the anterior fornix erogenous zone (as it's ~formally~ called) is located deep inside the vagina between the cervix and the bladder. "The angle of entry during doggy style sex enables the deep penetration necessary for stimulating this pleasure point," explains McLaughlin.
Depending on the length of your partner's penis/dildo/finger, they may be able to stimulate your A-spot while you're on all fours. If not, dropping onto your elbows will open you up even more and allow your partner to plunge deeper into your body, she suggests. Another option: Lay flat on your tummy and have your partner lie on top of you, like two stacked pancakes.

If you feel nervous about giving doggy style sex a go specifically because you find deep penetration uncomfortable or even painful , good news: "There are ways to enjoy the position without all the depths," according to Smith. Doggy style sex is an equal orifice opportunist sex position. Think about it: Your asshole is *right* there. "It's a great position for anal sex," confirms McLaughlin.
