" Hair of the Dog " is the title track of Nazareth 's 1975 album Hair of the Dog . [2] It is sometimes called " Son of a Bitch " because of the repeated lyric in the hook ("Now you're messing with a son of a bitch").

The song is about a charming and manipulative woman who can get men to acquiesce to her every need. The singer is letting her know that she has met her match in him, a self-described "son of a bitch."

"Hair of the Dog" uses a talk box extensively during its bridge . [3] The song's title, which does not appear in the lyrics, is a pun (" hair of the dog " = " heir of the dog" = "son of a bitch "). [ citation needed ]

As a standalone song, it only charted in Germany, where it peaked at #44. In the United States, because the Hair of the Dog album was a top-20 hit on the album charts, the song received extensive airplay on album-oriented rock stations (despite "bitch" being a borderline profanity) and remains in the playlist of most classic rock formatted stations. In the US, it was released as the B-side of " Love Hurts ".

The song has been covered by many bands. Guns N' Roses recorded it on their 1993 album "The Spaghetti Incident?" . This version features the signature guitar riff from the Beatles' " Day Tripper " as a gag at the end.

The song is on the Britny Fox album Boys in Heat . [4] [5] Stone Rider covered the song on their 2008 album Three Legs of Trouble.

The original version of the song is featured in the first expansion pack of the video game Grand Theft Auto IV , titled The Lost and the Damned . It is featured on the in-game radio station Liberty Rock Radio. The song was also used in The CW show Supernatural in a Season 2 promotional advertisement.

The Girls Aloud song " Sexy! No No No... " features a sped-up sample of the song's guitar riff. The band is given a writing credit for the sample.

On January 26, 2010, a re-recording of the song was released as downloadable content for the rhythm video game Rock Band 2 . However, it has since been delisted from the in-game store.

In 2014, the song was used in the film, Dumb and Dumber To , during Lloyd's fantasy about Harry's daughter.

In a 2003 GEICO television commercial

In the US, this was used in a TV commercial for Dodge . [6] [ failed verification ]

On November 14, 2006 the original version of the song appeared in Season 1, Episode 7 of the Friday Night Lights television series. [7]

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
" The Warning " is a hip hop diss song written and performed by American rapper Eminem and produced by Dr. Dre as part of an ongoing conflict with singer Mariah Carey . Throughout his career, Eminem has claimed he once had a relationship with Carey, dating her for six months. Carey, however, always denied the claim. As a result, Eminem recorded a number of songs in which he rapped about the singer in a negative light, angered by her not admitting to seeing him.

Eminem's sixth studio album Relapse (2009) featured a song entitled "Bagpipes from Baghdad", containing insulting comments about the singer and her then-husband Nick Cannon . Afterward, Cannon posted on his website expressing his disgust at the rapper's comments. Eminem responded by saying he meant well and that the song is actually "wishing the couple the best". After the release of Carey's single " Obsessed ", a song about an obsessed man who claims to be having a relationship with her, Eminem claimed that the song was directed at himself, despite claims to the contrary by Cannon (although he later said that it was a diss to Eminem). As a response, Eminem released "The Warning". Cannon responded to that song with his "I'm a Slick Rick", and challenged Eminem to a boxing match for charity which never took place.

Though not released as a single or as part of an album, "The Warning" appeared on three Billboard charts.

From the year 2001 onwards, Eminem claimed to have dated Carey for six months throughout the gloomy times in her life. [1] Carey denied ever having been involved with the rapper in a personal relationship, claiming that they had only met a handful of times, and it was professional. [1] Subsequently, he referred to Carey in several of his songs in a negative light, claiming to have been angered by her not admitting to seeing him. [2] On Charmbracelet , Carey included a song titled "Clown", which critics suggested was aimed at Eminem. [3] "Clown"'s lyrics were described as "languidly sinister" by Sarah Rodman of The Boston Globe , and read: "I should've left it at 'I like your music too'...You should never have intimated we were lovers / When you know very well we never even touched each other." [3] In 2005, during concerts on the rapper's Anger Management Tour , he began playing voice-mails and recordings that were reportedly left by Carey. [4] One of the messages said: "I heard you were getting back with your ex-wife. Why won't you see me? Why won't you call me?". [4] After playing the excerpt, Eminem would pretend to be sick before launching into his song "Puke". [4] On May 12, 2009, Eminem released his sixth studio album Relapse , which included the song "Bagpipes from Baghdad". [5] The song's lyrics suggested Eminem was still in love with Carey and "wanted her back": "I want another crack at ya" and "Nick Cannon better back the fuck up. I'm not playing, I want her back, you punk." [5] After the song's release, Cannon went on his website, defending Carey and expressing his disgust at the rapper's comments:

I felt sorry for him because he must really be stuck in the past. Not only has his music not evolved, but also homeboy is still obsessed with my wife, the same female that wouldn't let him get to second base from eight years ago. What type of grown ass man lies about getting with a chick? Only Slim Lamey! LOL! I’m putting this out there now. Marshall Mathers, you need to holler at me... Man to man, let’s meet up and deal with this like adults. So, Miss Marshall, I'm going to make you wish you never spoke my name and regret the ungodly things you said about my wife. Your legacy has now been tainted from this day forth! You will now be known as the rapper who lost to corny-ass Nick Cannon! [5] [6]

Eminem responded to Cannon's comments sarcastically, clarifying that the song was really "wishing the couple the best", and that it was a misunderstanding. [7] In an interview with BBC Radio , Eminem clarified that although contained a "harsh" line, he meant well: "There's a line on there that was a little harsh. It's a harsh line. But it's like this, the way I look at it, I had no idea he was gonna take it like he took it. I had no idea Nick Cannon was gonna start wildin' out on me. No pun intended." [7] He later commented that he respected Cannon for his comment, and that he expected him to stand up for his wife: "I didn't read his blog or anything. But it is what it is. He's supposed to defend his wife, and I expected him to do that. But at the end of the day, it's a line I said – it's a song. What I actually meant to say is, I wish them the best. That's what I meant to say. That's the whole message of the record." [7]

After Carey premiered "Obsessed" on June 16, 2009, the media frenzied and began speculating the song was targeting Eminem, due to its lyrics and overall message. [8] Following the song's accompanying music video, which featured Carey playing a role that resembled the rapper, critics considered it Carey's response to Eminem's "Bagpipes from Baghdad". [8] Soon after both the release of the song and its video, Eminem released "The Warning" on July 30, 2009, which he claimed to be a retaliation. [9] In the aftermath of the releases, Cannon was questioned regarding the inspiration of "Obsessed", and whether it was ever directed at Eminem:

She's Mariah Carey. She's not beefin', she's a vegetarian. People keep saying ['Obsessed'] was directed at certain people. To be completely honest, she did the record 'cause she's a huge fan of this movie Mean Girls , and there's a line in the movie where one of the girls is like, 'Why are you so obsessed with me?' She says that at the beginning of the song, and that's where the concept came from. But, you know, art imitates life. [10]

Produced by Dr. Dre, [11] "The Warning" is a mid-tempo track that is almost entirely made up of soft piano keys playing in the background, a consistent drum beat, and occasional strings every few seconds. The song contains no chorus. [12]

The song's lyrics allude to his supposed relationship with Mariah Carey, the music video for "Obsessed", and pictures and proof he claims to have of the couple. [9] The song begins "Only reason I dissed you in the first place is because you denied seeing me. Now I'm pissed off," before describing Carey's impersonation of him in her video, "Oh gee, is that supposed to be me in the video with the goatee?/ Wow Mariah, didn't expect you to go balls out." [10] Eminem continues describing a near-sexual encounter with the singer, threatening to release voice-mails and pictures he still has in his possession. [13] [14] Additionally, the song features the voice of a woman who may or may not be Carey calling herself Mary Poppins and laughing. [15]

Although Carey did not publicly respond to "The Warning", in September 2010 Cannon responded with a song titled "I'm a Slick Rick", on which he attacks Eminem for his disparaging lyrics towards Carey, using a flow similar to that of rapper Slick Rick . [16] He also later proposed a boxing match between himself and Eminem for charity, even setting up a Facebook page to promote the idea; however, the event never took place. [17]

Daniel Kreps of Rolling Stone noted that Eminem "is more sharp and on-point here than on some of Relapse ." [18] Simon Vozick-Levinson of Entertainment Weekly however, stated that there is only one "clever" line aimed at Cannon, and that "everything else is just so predictable coming from Em[inem] at this point."

[Chorus: The Kid LAROI]
Fuck you, goodbye
You hurt me, for the last time
It's time for me to move on
So fuck you and goodbye
I gave you love and I hate it (Yeah, yeah)
Yeah, all of the time that I wasted (Yeah, yeah)
Fuck you, goodbye
You hurt me, for the last time

[Verse 1: The Kid LAROI]
It's the last time I let you hurt me
Fuck you, goodbye, I did not deserve it
None of this bullshit was ever really worth it
You blame me like I know I ain't perfect
I tried with you, and I lied for you
Many times, put my life on the line for you
I really wanted to get it right with you
I always saw the better side of you
And now it's fuck you for life
I'm doin' better, you right
I was wrong 'bout you, I guess I finally realized
You brought the dark to my light
I'm with a new one tonight
But there is one last thing I want to tell you tonight

[Chorus: The Kid LAROI]
Fuck you, goodbye
You hurt me, for the last time
It's time for me to move on
So fuck you and goodbye
I gave you love and I hate it (Yeah, yeah)
Yeah, all of the time that I wasted (Yeah, yeah)
Fuck you, goodbye
You hurt me, for the last time

[Verse 2: Machine Gun Kelly]
Wait, that was a lie
Because I cannot erase you like eternal sunshine in a spotless mind
Red in the eyes, lately I've been on a cocaine diet
I've been tryin' to feed my high
Your things are still in the box that you left in the bedroom
You'll leave, and I'm here
With no heart, guess I'll be dead soon
Ghost in a shell, stone like a cemetery
Scars don't heal, I got these in February
Broke your spell, love is only temporary
Highway to hell, I'm hangin' out the roof, yellin'

[Chorus: The Kid LAROI, Machine Gun Kelly & Both]
Fuck you, goodbye (Yeah)
You hurt me, for the last time
It's time for me to move on
So fuck you and goodbye
I gave you love and I hate it (Yeah, yeah)
Yeah, all of the time that I wasted (Yeah, yeah)
Fuck you, goodbye
You hurt me, for the last time
