Hotel was clean, staff wore masks, very kind snd accommodating. I normally prefer Crowne Plaza but very very pleased with Candlewood Suites. I will be back.
The first room we checked into was gross and dirty,the second room was better but not towels! This was just a quick over night because we didn’t want to drive to key west in dark. There were a lot of very sketchy “guests” that we encountered in stairwells and elevator. The fitness room was nice, but nothing to sanitize the machines and weights, the water fountain machine was empty and no cups no wipes, no paper towels., no way to sanitize anything!!! The laundry room had someone’s various pieces left behind and on floor. And the hotel smelled like smoke, everywhere, and the various “guests” were all hanging out front of the front lobby door smoking....
We were supposed to use this hotel on our return but we have cancelled and found other accommodations
Front desk agents were not trained well, both at check in and especially at check out.
Great location and clean and comfortable rooms. Only gripe I had was regarding the shuttle service. I ended a trip after 10 p.m. and there are not too many hotels near the FLL airport that offers complimentary shuttle pickup during this time. I called ahead and asked about the schedule of the shuttle before I even booked. I was originally told that airport pickup was “on demand,” when I called they would come. Going back to the airport, the shuttle leaves on the hour. So to my dismay, I called them at 10:25 p.m. to request for pickup. I didn’t get to the hotel until 11:40 p.m. I spoke with the front desk person (a guy) TWICE and he assured me the shuttle was on the way. When I spoke to him the last time and he told me 10-15 minutes, I told him is that more like 20-30 minutes? I just wanted a more approximate time because it was pouring down rain and windy that night, making it a bit uncomfortable to stand under the canopy waiting all that time when I could have been inside. Apparently there was a shift change after 11 p.m., and the new guy didn’t know anything about me being picked up from the airport. When I got to the hotel he was nice and he apologized and informed me that the manager was informed about the situation. I would stay again only because of the location, the cleanliness of the rooms, and complimentary airport shuttle service, but there needs to be better communication between the front desk clerk and guest regarding pickup times, instead of just telling them anything. I shouldn’t have had to wait over an hour for a van ride that was less than 15 minutes to the hotel.

У большинства русских туристов Флорида ассоциируется с Майами Бич или Дисней Лэндом в Орландо, и мало кто знает о таком прекрасном курортном городе как Форт-Лодердейл, расположенный всего в 37 км от Майами.
Форт-Лодердейл стал для меня городом-открытием США.
Еще с окна самолета меня удивило огромное количество рек и каналов между, почти, каждой улицей города. Не зря местные жители прозвали его своей собственной "Американской Венецией" и помимо наземного транспорта здесь очень популярно водное такси.
Проснувшись рано утром, я сразу же побежала на пляж, а как иначе? Пляжи тут считаются лучшими во Флориде и имеют сертификат "Пляжи голубая волна". Даже знаменитое Майями Бич не сравнится с чистейшей водой, нежным песком и ласковым солнцем в Форт-Лодердейл и его окресностях.
Главным городским пляжем считается "Форт-Лодердейл Бич", но лично моим любимым пляжем является Лодердейл-Бай-Де-Си, расположенный в небольшой деревушке под таким же названием. Здесь всегда тихо и мало людей. Можно спокойно наслаждаться солнцем, наблюдать, купаться или бегать по песку.
Сезон в Форт-Лодердейл круглый год, но лучшими месяцами для посещения, я считаю, являются - апрель, май или октябрь, ноябрь. Весенние месяцы понравятся любителям прохланой воды и пустынных пляжей, если вы, конечно, не попадете во время предпасхальной недели (Семана Санта) или весенних каникул (Спринг брик). В это время город переполнен туристами и молодежью со всей Америки.
Осень же ассоциируется с нашим "Бархатным сезоном". Летние дожди и ветра стихают, а вода еще прогретая, но не похожая на горячий суп.
Форт-Лодердейл является двуязычным городом, как и Майами. Несмотря на то, что национальным языком считается английский, мне совсем не составило труда разговаривать на испанском. Свзязано это частично с историей Флориды, частично с миграцией жителей Латинской Америки.
В недооцененном нами городе проходят Мировые Арт фестивали, Рождественский парад яхт, всемирно известная Выставка яхт и катеров и различные музыкальные фестивали. В городе практически постоянно праздник.
Каждый может оставить свой след тут навсегда, заложив одну из плиточек тротуара со своим именем и романчическим признанием.
Если же пляжи вам надоели советую провести день в парке музее Боннет Хаус или в Хью Тейлор Парк.
Боннет хаус - это не только музей, где вы сможете узнать об истории происхождения самой усадьбы, полюбоваться картинами и личной коллекцией хозяина дома, но и прогуляться по парку, понаблюдать за лебедями, морскими черепахами и огромными игуанами, которые лазают по деревьям не хуже обезьян.
Не забудьте захватить с собой еду и плед, ведь на территории парка не возбраняется устроить пикник и провести там целый день.
Также здесь есть оранжерея с орхидеями и недорогой сувенирный магазин, которые особенно понравится женскому полу.
Хью Тейлор парк подходит как для активного, так и для пассивного отдыха. Советую взять велики на прокат и прокатиться по территории парка всего за 2 доллара. Здесь также можно устроить пикник или даже разбить кемпинг (правда ночевка в парке обойдется не дешево). В парке полно красивых экзотических растений и деревьев, а также различных милых животных.
Здесь также можно аррендовать лодки и прокатиться по устьям реки, а еще у парка есть выход на собственный пляж. Так что попав сюда, можно пробыть тут с самого раннего утра и до позднего вечера.
В городе существует две самые популярные улицы:
Ривервэлк тихое и спокойное место предназначенное для прогулок вдоль реки в центре города. Такой тихий оазис переходящий из одного парка в другой, как раз недалеко от большинства музеев города. Нагулявшись целый день по выставочным залам, хорошо пройтись по набережной или просто посидеть отдохнуть и полюбоваться на местные яхты.
А еще здесь как раз есть остановки водного такси и круизных лодок. Можно запастись билетиком и устроить водный тур по городу.
Бульвар Ла Олас, напротив же, заполнен ресторанчиками, магазинчиками, бутиками, картинными галереями. Вы найдете тут буквально все. Это самая длинная улица города. На ней часто проходят различные выставки и фестивали. У бульвара даже имеетя свой сайт с мероприятиями. Прокатиться по улице бесплатно можно от центра города на веселеньком туристическом автобусе, который идет до самого пляжа.
Особенно весело гулять по бульвару вечером, когда он освещен огнями, и повеселиться в каком-нибудь баре.
Форт-лодердейл окружен природой. Если вдруг есть возможность, советую посетить:
Из еды рекомендую попробовать пиццу, которые вы готовите почти что сами, вернее вы сами выбираете ингридиенты. Заведение, где это делают называется Blaze Pizza. Дешево и вкусно!
Хотелось бы предупредить, что купаться в речных водоемах не рекомендуется. Флорида славится своими крокодилами. И во многих местах висят таблички, что купаться запрещено либо каналы огорожены сеткой. Уж не знаю, насколько это правда, но местные жители уверяют, что иногда крокодилы заплывают в город и выходят погретья на солнышко. Я не видела, но наверняка такое возможно.
