mb1Bradford City welcomed local rivals Barnsley to Valley Parade in an eagerly anticipated League One encounter. The hosts have made an unbeaten start to the new campaign under new manager Derek Adams and were keen to extend that run against their Yorkshire opponents. Barnsley traveled the short distance with confidence though, having secured four wins from their opening five matches under Markus Schopp.
It was the visitors who threatened first, Michal Helik rising highest to meet a corner but seeing his effort bounce back off the crossbar. That early warning was not heeded by the Bradford defense, who were caught napping from the resulting set piece as Mads Andersen stooped low to head home unmarked. Barnsley's confidence grew as the half progressed and Helik wasted a golden chance to double their advantage, miscontrolling in front of goal with the net gaping. The Yorkshire rivals were getting stuck in, with Lee Angol picking up a booking for a late challenge.
Bradford emerged re-energized after the break, looking to capitalize on the wave of fan support driving them forward. Gareth Evans saw a 25-yard drive tipped over by Jack Walton before Callum Cooke crashed a shot against the crossbar from the resulting corner. The pressure was building and Adams' men got their reward on the hour mark as Evans' glanced a header into the bottom corner from close range after meeting a teasing cross 聾. Valley Parade erupted at the equalizer!
With the score level, both teams pushed for a winning goal but quality final balls continued to elude them. Angol almost made amends for his earlier foul with a spectacular volley that whistled just past the post. Barnsley's tireless pressing was down but not yet beaten, clinging on until four added minutes were shown. There was to be no late, winning twist though and the teams had to settle for a point apiece in an entertaining Yorkshire derby that ebbed and flowed.
For Bradford City, the unbeaten run continues while Barnsley had to make do with a share of the spoils on this occasion欄. This battle of Yorkshire is sure to have more drama when these rivals meet again later in the season. - https://mbscore.tv/match/bradford-city-vs-barnsley-18929734
