mb2Tottenham Hotspur faced off against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on January 23, 2022 in an intense London derby. The game was a defensive battle for much of the first half, with neither side able to break through and create clear scoring chances.
Chelsea had the better of possession in the opening 45 minutes, controlling play in midfield through Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic. However, Spurs' disciplined setup made it difficult for the Blues to penetrate into the final third. Antonio Conte had drilled his three center backs well, with Eric Dier, Cristian Romero and Ben Davies keeping Chelsea's attackers quiet.
The second half started in similar fashion, until Reece James broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. He ran onto a Mason Mount through ball and arrowed a shot into the bottom corner past Hugo Lloris 理. Chelsea went ahead against the run of play, but held the advantage.
Tottenham responded well to going behind. Harry Kane was timing his runs better and linking up with Son Heung-min effectively. In the 74th minute, Kane played Son in behind the Chelsea defense and he finished confidently past Edouard Mendy to level the scores at 1-1. It was Son's 10th goal of the season in all competitions.
The game opened up more in the final 15 minutes. Both teams pushed for a winning goal as a tense finish unfolded. Chances began to come at both ends but neither side could find a breakthrough. Extra time loomed before Hakim Ziyech had a late chance to win it for Chelsea, but his effort was saved superbly by Lloris to ensure the match ended all square.
The point was a good result for Spurs on the road against top four rivals. Chelsea edged possession but Tottenham defended bravely and took their opportunity clinically through Son. The London rivals remained locked together in the league table following an exciting and hard-fought league contest at Stamford Bridge. - https://mbscore.tv/match/netherlands-vs-republic-of-ireland-18712902
