Tottenham stormed to the top of the Premier League table with a 1-0 victory over Brentford. A first half strike from Sergio Reguilon was enough to settle a tight encounter and give Antonio Conte's side their sixth win from seven games this season. The visitors made a bright start and had the first sight of goal through Harry Kane who tried his luck from distance only to see his effort fly narrowly wide. Brentford responded well though and worked their way into the game. Christian Eriksen, who spent several seasons with Spurs, was at the heart of much of the Bees' good play in midfield. The hosts carved out the first clear chance when Ivan Toney spun neatly away from his man but could only fire into the side netting from a tight angle on the edge of the box.

Spurs began to take control and went close through Kane again. The England captain burst clear down the left and drilled a low shot towards goal that required a smart stop down low from David Raya. Brentford survived that scare but conceded from the resulting corner as Reguilon stooped to head home Kane's delivery back across goal. That proved to be the only goal of a tight first half in which the home side shaded possession without truly troubling Hugo Lloris. Brentford made a switch at the break, bringing on striker Bryan Mbeumo for defender Kristoffer Ajer in a bid to find an equaliser. The change almost made an instant impact as the forward turned Eric Dier inside out only to drill wide with the goal at his mercy.

Mbeumo continued to look lively and tested Lloris with a vicious low drive that the Spurs keeper did well to push away. But for all their territory, Brentford were struggling to break down a well-organised Tottenham defence. Conte responded by bringing on fresh legs in the form of Yves Bissouma and Richarlison just past the hour mark. Richarlison almost made an impact, stinging the palms of Raya with a fierce strike. With time running out, Brentford threw everything at Spurs late on but couldn't find that elusive goal. Kane had a golden chance to seal victory on the counter but scooped over with the goal gaping. It mattered little in the end though as Tottenham held on for a hard-fought three points 拾 to move 🔝 of the table. Brentford will rue missed opportunities, but can take positives as their 🏠 form remains solid early in the season. - https://mbscore.tv/match/israel-vs-romania-18713042
