We present a new kinematic model measuring the three-dimensional orientation of multiple segments of the foot and ankle. The model defines neutral alignments based on the alignments of the underlying bony segments, and indexes the orientation of skin-mounted markers to the bony anatomy using measures from weightbearing x-rays.
The talar head marker was added to the original DuPont model to create a midfoot segment. This model has four functional foot segments in total: hindfoot, midfoot, forefoot, hallux. Segment-fixed coordinate systems are defined for each foot segment.

The Oxford Foot Model (OFM) is a widely-used multi-segment foot model for the evaluation of foot motion. To date, custom code based on the original scientific publications have failed to reproduce results available through the Vicon plug-in (ViconOFM).

During the animation playback (and I see this mostly in dance animations) the feet placement and orientation can be pretty messed up. They can float above or fall below the floor and can flip facing the opposite direction (??!!!) I see it with single and multiple animations blended together.
