I can't complain about these strings (I am not a professional) ... they sound good to me .. I read many reviews about them breaking right out of the package so I initially tuned the guitar a full step and a half lower than concert pitch .... and gradually tightened them up to concert pitch over a 4 or 5 day period ... with nylon strings I have always loosened them over night and any time I wouldn't be playing for a while.

I purchased these strings in order to put them on a steel string guitar so my fingers would not hurt as much. However due to the thickness of the treble strings and the narrowness of the steel string guitar neck, they did not quite fit and I found that my fingers did not have enough space to make the cord shapes without hitting strings I did not intend. They aren't bad strings but you can't really use them with a steel string guitar.

I've been using these strings for several years, now. Last time I changed strings, I tried some different trebles... rectified nylon. I liked the feel under my fingers, but I never quite accepted the sound. Yesterday I realized that was the reason I hadn't been playing as much, so today I switched out the trebles. I've come back to these black nylon folk strings and the sound is music to my ears... Pun intended. These strings have a richer, fuller sound. A beautiful sound! Nothing against the other strings... I'm sure there are many who love them. They just weren't my sound. I plan to have an extra set of these EJ34s around, now, so I'm never without them. I identify as a folk singer, playing folk guitar, but I love many songs from other genres. You'd be surprised how good a rock, or heavy metal song can sound when played and sang in folk style. These strings lend themselves well to this. I think I won't be trying other strings for a while... a long while! If you find something that works, that gives you the tone/sound you want, why change it?!?

I put these strings in my Blue Lava guitar and they worked beautifully. Not only that, it made the guitar sound more natural and easier to play (finger-style/flamenco). There is a break-in period for these strings though. They will constantly detune first until they are broken into. Advice is to overtune to a note or half note higher and then let it detune. If you're impatient (like I am), let it sit tuned higher for half an hour and then tune it properly. Repeat this whenever it detunes alot. After maybe 10 times of doing this, you'll notice it doesn't detune as much and almost holds the tune perfectly

No one string is best for all guitars or players. We all know that right? Ok, so I wanted to try these out as they sounded like they would be right for me. I have an old late 70s Hondo guitar. Great little classical guitar designed for beginners (which is me). These strings suit it quite well and are excellent quality. I love the gauge of the strings. The diameters are larger than the strings they replaced (Ernie Balls) and I think the bass strings are perfect for a classical acoustic guitar. I actually prefer the thinner trebles to these, but in ratio to each other the set feels good. The strings are very light tension though. That is good if you want something softer on the fingers, but I actually think it is harder to hold because of the thickness of the string vs the tension they are under. It probably isn't anything good or bad, just me needing to get used to it more. Speaking of light tension though, be careful stringing your guitar. I broke my E string by being stupid and tightening it too much. Then a day later the e string snapped. I chock that up to my error, and not a reflection of the string quality, but I was having a hard time tuning it right. Tuning of these has been a bit of a pain. It was very hard for me to get the initial tune. Then once I did, the strings need to be constantly re-tuned. This is normal, but I think it feels a bit excessive for these. Specifically the e and G strings have been pesky. The first string has been double the joy since it snapped and I replaced it (so started the break in process all over again). My G string could be my guitar. While nothing is wrong with my guitar, the G has always been a little finicky. I think that is just amplified with these particular strings. My only other critique of the strings themselves would be they are noisy. Since the bass strings are nice and thick, and also uncoated, they scream out as you slide your fingers across them. I don't actually mind that too much for my play style and skill level, but I know a lot of people hate that. Other than that I think these have a terrific sound. The sound is distinctly different than most strings I have heard. It seems cleaner, but not sharper. They ring out very loudly, which is great for my play style (finger picking/strumming). Strumming with a pick is ridiculously loud. Mind you, I don't have a large body guitar so the acoustics are not amplified very much on a normal basis. But with these strings it really helps the sound amplify and carry. These string are not right for everybody. I'm sure there are those guitars that the strings just don't sound right on, but I really think they have a good feel and sound for a classical guitar so they are definitely worth a try. I love them and am not sorry I bought them.

I've had both the black and the clear strings snap the high E. It wasn't an installation issue - both strings snapped right at the ball end. I will not be buying these again.

The steel strings on my Yamaha FS-TA trans-acoustic concert-sized guitar were worn out, and I didn't have anything on-hand to replace them with except a pack of these guys I got on sale a while ago and never used. Not wanting to bother going to Guitar Center, I slapped them on. 1. They sound awesome. I love the mellow tone. I play finger-style with no picks and they produce a quiet and warm sound, which is what I prefer. The wound bass strings do give you a little bit on the lower end, but not a ton. 2. They feel great. I often play tuned down a step to accommodate my playing style, but I find with these strings, that is not necessary. In fact, tuning these down would probably make them buzz like crazy. 3. In standard tuning, they don't buzz, at least not on my FS-TA. I haven't tried any lower tunings yet. 4. The high-E will occasionally slip off the fret board. Not often, but it happens. 5. The strings takes forever to settle. Prepare to re-tune every time you pick the guitar up. On my FS-TA, they go about a half-step flat in 24 hours, except for the G string which goes flat a full step for whatever reason. 4/5. I like them a lot, but putting them on a steel-stringed guitar can cause some little issues here and there.

Great strings

Size: Silver Style: Black Nylon Verified Purchase

I love these ball-end nylon strings from D'Addario. they're great all rounders and sound fantastic on both nylon and steel string guitars. If you're buying them to use on a steel string guitar you might be surprised at just how good they are. I've tried other makes of ball-end nylons and these are the only ones I've found that are usable; the others were useless. You'll also make them sound even better if you raise the action at saddle. A while back I had a few cases of these strings snapping overnight but this seems to have eased off. Perhaps a bad batch for some reason. If it starts happening again I'll edit my rating. I use the silver/black nylon version.

Nylon on a steel string guitar

Size: Silver Style: Black Nylon Verified Purchase

Having always been one to experiment I put a set of these strings on an Ibanez steel string acoustic guitar, to be honest I wasn't expecting much but was very surprised at the sound I got once I had fiddled with the set up of the guitar. It did take a while for the strings to stretch and settle and keep in tune but once this was out of the way it played beautifully, even when amplified through the internal pickup as these strings have a steel core. Yes there are some purists who would say this is wrong but I for one am sticking with this, at least on one guitar to expand my sounds. Give it a try if you have a steel string acoustic laying around gathering dust, you might be as surprised as I was

I tried these to see if they were a little kinder on my fingers. Put on a solid wood Eastman Acoustic - although Folk strings they are also recommended for steel acoustic guitars. Had them on for quite a while now. Besides continuously going out of tune, the sound is truly awful, particularly on the high strings (these are nylon). A complete waste of money. Not recommended.

Nice Strings,Great Price..

Size: 80/20 Bronze Style: Clear Nylon Verified Purchase

I put these Nylon Strings on a full bodied Country style acoustic guitar which has always had steel strings on it so I was curious of what sound I'd get?(also they could've saved mi a fortune buying a smaller bodied new acoustic guitar?,they did!!),Nice crisp tone and feel,These strings I would recommend,Please,Please try them on a full bodied meant for steel string Country acoustic guitar if you can,You will not regret it,You shouldn't really regret buying them at all,Unless they're not what your looking for and the packaging clearly states what they are!,For mi it was a chance/an experiment that paid off,I'll get some more..

Great nylon strings for all accoustic guitar types

Size: Silver Style: Black Nylon Verified Purchase

Value for money with strings generally is pretty poor, for some reason they have a very inflated price point across the entire market. These aren't any different from any others in that area. They are great strings that sound and feel good and I would recommend them to any guitarist looking to buy nylon strings for their accoustic guitar.
