Mourning Dove chicks at dusk. Just in the nick of time. Took this picture the other night. In the morning they were all gone. The egg on the chair, sadly didn’t hatch. Mom had laid egg in hat on table. Hat blew over onto chair. Egg went without incubation for days :(

A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird quietly sitting on her nest right in my backyard! It was so tiny I honestly don’t know how I saw it! I’d say the nest, made of moss, lichen, feathers and spider webs, is about the size of a large walnut shell.
The Looff Carousel in Spokane, Washington’s Riverfront Park. All of the horses on Spokane’s carousel are brightly colored jumpers, meaning they look as if they’re prancing or bounding. As they strain at their bejeweled bridles and bits with tousled manes, flaring nostrils and mouths agape they look as if they could take off and run through the park.
A few days ago I photographed four koi goldfish being released into the pond at Manito Park’s Japanese Garden. The park lost 50 fish back in 2008, some as old as 34 years and as long as 25,“ when someone released their unwanted pet goldfish, infected with Koi Herpes Virus, into the pond. Tragic. In San Jose, CA over 250 fish died in 2009 from KHV. The thing is your fish can look healthy but carry and spread this incurable disease. Please re-home your unwanted pet fish with other fish lovers. Never release them into an established pond.
