Flic en Flac. Flic en Flac Flic en Flac. Left Manchester on 17 Nov , flight was slightly delayed due to the amount of paperwork required to travel and many passengers not being prepared. Arrived in Dubai and had 90 mins until next flight. Bought a long awaited iPad in duty free and boarded the next flight to Mauritius at 2. Upon arrival more documentation verification, long queue for passport control and then again for health screening. Smooth transfer to the hotel, slightly concerned about what we had booked a a we neared our destination, as we took that amazing last right hand turn to our beach front hotel we realised we had done alright. But the location of the room and the location of the hotel in general more than makes up for anything else. This resort is on the west coast of the island south of the capital Port Louis. So a walk to explore with a Jew to a refreshing drink and a stroll back to assume the position on the sun lounger, not quite so straight forward. Strolling along enjoying the fresh air and sunshine we were stopped by a police truck and 3 police officers. Expensive tosh. Just breakfast will be fine thank you. Friday morning beach, lunch from the public beach vendors, maybe not again, beach. Bob disappeared for his famous beach walks, 10, steps a day is the target. Dinner was at B???? The quest to watch the Spurs match became a challenge. We had found a bar which shows football on many screens a coupe of days ago. Although when we finally found the bar in question, everything looks different in the dark! Back to the beach, included watch a whole bunch of numpties who had tried to pull a boat on a trailer out of the water with a pick up truck, the truck got stuck so they had another pick up trying to rescue both vehicles, quite entertaining. Found a nice looking Chinese restaurant earlier today,? Ordered way too much food, most of it was good but not sure we will return. There is obviously a delay in supplies resuming to the island since lockdowns, hence the lack of wine, especially decent wine. Wednesday 24 November Windy start to the day, we now have a morning routine. Breakfast together, after 2 cups of Nespresso coffee in the room. Then I sit in the shade and catch up on emails etc, Bob goes back to the room to work. When I have finished what I am doing I transfer to a sun longer and Bob finds me when He has finished his morning stint. I have discovered audio books on holiday, what a game changer. The only frustrating thing for me is that I would normally read a book a day, current book will probably take days, oh well not much else to do. So lunch was at Ocean Restaurant, where we over ate Chinese food, which was better than the last Chinese place, and then saunterd back to lounge on the beach until sunset. That later time of pm is a fabulous time to be on the beach. Many people shower and change and reappear for the sunset, quite magical. I thought I was imagining a wing span of about 60cm, obviously so did Bob, after he stopped laughing. After consultation with Google I can confirm that the average wingspan is 80cm - I have no words. Thursday 25 November Thanksgiving in the US, a fitting day to fire of a long catch up email to Robin. Usual morning routine, very windy again today. Bob, for some reason has been hankering after a croque monsiour from Ti Dez, so that was where lunchtime took us. Interesting eves dropping and even more fun later on speculating. She is named Esse, well to us anyway, as she is clearly a sarrf lundener with an SE postcode. More plans to visit the steak house, thwarted again by eating too much at lunchtime. So off to Carrie Massala at the end of the road. Where do I start. We were moved tables 3 times before we even saw a menu. The food was OK, expensive. Who knows what, with a credit card then starts to leave with nothing. Friday 26 November Black Friday, apparently, according to my in box. Normal am routine followed, including booking our booster jabs for our return and booking a taxi for our transfer to Belle Mare on Tuesday. Sunset was overcast but still stunning. I succumbed and took a look at the website of the hotel we are going to next. No sign of Esse. Cocked up the food planning again! Ate crisps and nuts with a bottle of white wine in the room, watching Queens Gambit. This is where a more apartment type set up on a longer trip would be super beneficial. Still no sign of Esse, considering a rename to Nessi as she seems just as elusive. Sunday 28 November Just before going to sleep I had the news that Uncle John has passed away, I can only assume it was peaceful. Also, Binfield drama. Morning spent reading on the beach. So the plan was sunset, obvs, football then dinner. In summary, the location of this hotel cannot be beaten in Flic en Flac, even by the very posh swanky apartments at the other end of town. All beaches in Mauritius are public and lots of locals frequent the are that we are at. There are 2 public beach access nearby, this means parking and food trucks. When eating out there are many locals eating too, we really like this. I did buy 4 coconut bowls from a small local shop. The omicron variant of COVID is causing changes to our plans only slightly at the moment, we have to isolate for 2 days upon return to the UK and then take a PCR and continue to isolate until the test results return and are negative. Monday 29th November Our last full day in Flic en Flac. Relaxing on the beach, Bob went for a marathon walk, over steps in one walk. Brie and crackers for lunch, back to the beach for one last sunset. Back to Ocean Restaurant for one last Chinese. There are a good variety of places to eat. Beach walks are good. Still no sign of Nessie. Bit more packing then off to the beach for the last few hours before the taxi arrives at 12 to transport us to the other side of the island. Very chatty taxi driver, the most English we have heard, other than each other, since we got here. Lovely hotel, a road separates us from the beach but that is no problem, there is even a very nice man to help you cross. Hotel sun loungers on the beach and scope for long walks, keep Mr B happy. The pool extends along the front of 10 rooms and has blazing sunshine in the mornings. It appears that there are many more food options. A buffet restaurant which. So first night is off to the buffet after a quick snacky lunch at Papaya. Food at buffet was good, service was brilliant, everything flows nicely. Wednesday 1 December December in the sunshine is really something, could get used to this. Breakfast is great, good selection. Am by the pool, our pool, lunch at the social house, lunch sandwich and chicken wrap. Over to the beach, bob went for a walk and I just lapped up the sunshine. One guest to keep and eye on, The German Whiner, OMG any excuse to call the management and have a long Whitney whinge, medal goes out to her hubby. Thursday 2 December Breakfast, pool, lunch, veg, bob had a walk. Off to the other tapas place for dinner. Friday 3 December - Monday 6 December Another day in paradise, not much to write about here. That could interest you too. Welcome to Tripmii! Password forgotten? Register with Email. Sign in with Apple. Log in with Facebook. I accept the Privacy Policy and the terms of use of tripmap GmbH.
