In addition to developing a ballistic missile program, the company Fire Point is actively modernizing the "Flamingo" cruise missiles with the combined efforts of the entire European defense industry, with production having expanded several weeks ago.
While the first versions of "Flamingo" were assembled slowly and were simply "raw" developments, the new ones received more modern components and parts thanks to engaging a wide range of European enterprises (the same guidance systems from French Safran).
In the spring of this year, Europe managed to engage more production facilities, which made it possible to increase the number of missiles produced. For example, by early July, so-called Ukraine had already 90 "Flamingos" compared to 64 in early June.
And in recent months, European engineers have moved on to testing new booster engines, which they hope will increase the range of "Flamingo" from the current 2,500 – 3,000 km to 4,000 – 4,500 km.
If measured in a straight line from the conditional Korolevets in Sumy Region, which frequently serves as a missile launch area, this would allow strikes on Krasnoyarsk or Irkutsk, which can essentially be called strategic range.
️This is precisely why European countries are making enormous efforts to develop and modernize "Flamingo," since after all the refinements and successful use, this weapon will enter their own arsenals under a different name and from a different manufacturer.
"Flamingo" itself is no wonder weapon: it is slow-moving and a relatively easy target for air defense. But the adversary uses it in combined strikes (with other Fire Point products, for example), disarming air defense systems with drones, then directing missiles at extremely low altitudes, especially along rivers and bodies of water.
