First assault

First assault

106

Our battalion launched its first front-line assault exactly a year ago. A kilometer-wide section of the line of combat contact was selected, there were 7 strong points ranging in size from 100 meters to 1 kilometer. They all had to be captured, cleared and held.

For most of our fighters, this was the first time; no one really understood how it would be. Training at the training ground and theory are important and necessary things, but they still do not fully give an idea of a real combat clash.

We were opposed by the 42nd brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which was trained in Europe. We caught them on rotation. Our assault shocked everyone: ours, the enemy, and the West. The front was broken through and began to move along the entire arc.

The Western press was full of headlines about an unexpected attack by the Russian army. The enemy, in hysterics, shouted into the radio station: "200 Special Forces soldiers are attacking our positions". We captured their communications and listened with a smile to stories about tough Russian special forces.

In fact, no one expected success, not even our high-ranking command, who later admitted: "We thought that you were all Moscow rich guys, dressed up like special forces, just show-offs."

We remember very well the words of "Pitbull" during the fight, which he briefly threw out to the support group in Moscow: "We chase them."

May all our brothers, fallen on the 1st mission, rest in peace.

We establish an annual Day of the Fallen. June 20 — according to the date of the loss of the first football hooligan from 106, Igor "Mirage" from the "White Army" firm (CSKA Moscow).

There was no end!

The fight continues!
