First Plunge — Privacy Policy

First Plunge ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles your information.

Short version: First Plunge does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to us or any third party. Everything stays on your device.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not operate servers that store your data. The App has no user accounts, no login, and no analytics tracking that identifies you. We do not collect your name, email, location, contacts, or any personally identifiable information.

Health Data (Apple HealthKit)

With your explicit permission, First Plunge reads the following data from Apple Health to calculate your Recovery Score, power the Adaptive Coach, and build your monthly recovery reports:

Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
Heart Rate
Resting Heart Rate
Workout data

With your permission, the App may also write cold plunge and sauna sessions to Apple Health as workouts.

This health data is processed entirely on your device. It is never transmitted to us, never sold, never shared with third parties, and never used for advertising. You can revoke the App's access to Health data at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security → Health.

We do not use HealthKit data for any purpose other than providing the App's core features to you.

Data Stored on Your Device

The App stores your session history, progress, streaks, breathwork activity, and preferences locally on your device using standard iOS storage. A small summary (current streak, latest recovery score, weekly session count) is shared with the App's own widgets through Apple's App Group mechanism — this data never leaves your device. Deleting the App removes this data from your device.

Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, the App schedules local notifications on your device. These are generated and delivered entirely by iOS on your device. No notification data is sent to us or any server, and we cannot see whether or when you receive them. You can disable reminders at any time in the App's settings or in iOS Settings.

Widgets, Live Activities, and Siri Shortcuts

Home Screen widgets and Live Activities (including the Dynamic Island timer) display data already stored on your device. Nothing is transmitted externally.
Siri Shortcuts are processed by Apple's App Intents framework on your device. We do not receive your voice data or shortcut usage.

Data Export

The App lets you export your own session history as a CSV file. The export is generated on your device and shared only through the iOS share sheet to destinations you choose. We never receive a copy.

Purchases

In-app purchases (Lifetime and Plus subscriptions) are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment information. Apple's handling of your purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Your purchase entitlements are tied to your Apple ID, not to any account with us.

Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only external service involved is Apple's App Store / StoreKit, used solely to process purchases.

Children's Privacy

First Plunge is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children. Cold exposure and heat therapy are intended for adults.

Your Rights

Because we do not collect or store your personal data, there is no personal data held by us to access, correct, or delete. You retain full control of all App data on your device and all Health data in Apple Health.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.

First Plunge — Terms of Service

By downloading or using First Plunge ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Health and Safety Disclaimer — Please Read Carefully

First Plunge is a wellness and fitness tracking tool. It is NOT a medical device and does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Cold water immersion (cold plunge, ice baths, cold showers) and heat exposure (sauna) carry inherent health risks, including but not limited to cold shock response, hypothermia, hyperthermia, fainting, drowning, cardiovascular stress, and in rare cases serious injury or death. These risks are higher for individuals with heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, circulatory disorders, respiratory conditions, pregnancy, or other medical conditions.

Breathing exercises carry their own risks. Never practice intensive breathing techniques (such as power breathing or breath retention) in or near water. Hyperventilation before cold immersion can cause loss of consciousness and drowning. Perform such exercises only seated, on dry land.

Before beginning any cold exposure, sauna, breathwork, or contrast therapy practice, consult a qualified healthcare professional, especially if you have any pre-existing medical condition or are pregnant.

You use the App and engage in any related activity entirely at your own risk. The protocols, timers, scores, coaching suggestions, and information provided by the App are for general informational and motivational purposes only and should never replace professional medical judgment. The App's Adaptive Coach and Recovery Score are statistical estimates based on heart rate variability — they are not medical assessments. Never practice cold immersion alone in open water or in any situation where loss of consciousness could be fatal.

By accepting the in-app health disclaimer, you confirm that you have read and understood these warnings.

2. The Service

First Plunge provides guided timers, session tracking, breathing exercises, structured programs, a recovery score based on heart rate variability, adaptive coaching suggestions, reminders, widgets, and reports for cold exposure and sauna recovery. Features are provided "as is" and may change over time.

3. Purchases and Subscriptions

The App offers a free tier and paid options:

Lifetime: a one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks premium features permanently.
Plus: an auto-renewable subscription (monthly or yearly) that unlocks premium features and ongoing services.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. Refunds are handled by Apple according to their policies.

4. Intellectual Property

The App, its design, content, programs, and branding are owned by us and protected by applicable laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer the App except as permitted by law.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the App or from any cold exposure, sauna, breathwork, or contrast therapy activity, including any injury, illness, or death. You assume full responsibility for your health and safety.

6. No Warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any score, measurement, or coaching suggestion is accurate.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

8. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless your local consumer protection law requires otherwise.
