Confirmed - 42,30 to 32, 30 has easy pulls. Many singles around the camps in this area but still a poor drop rate.
I don't know if the other kinds even drop it but try going for Mosshide BRUTES. They drop the "best" (meaning still crappy but the highest of the other monster).

Subject: "warning" Keep in mind these mobs run at 30% and run as fast as a feral druid in cat form, which is as fast as it gets at these levels unless you're in Ghost Wolf form. heh.
Subject: "Re: Fire Taboo [277]" Diabolical quest and a prime example of why some people should never be allowed to program #$%^>< I was killing these stupid fenrunners for almost 2 hours to get 9 flints. Drop rate must have been 1 in 10. When they get to about 20% health they run, and not just normal run, these are 100m olympic standard sprinters. cept they run for freakin miles. Of course aggroing as many other stupid gnolls as they can. You cant catch them, try to root them and they are out of range before the spell gets off. So you gotta either chase em till they stop running, or stand there like a prat waiting till they come back. Eventually finished it and handed in and he gave another quest, Told him to stick it where the sun don't shine and abandoned the stupid chain. Don't bother with this quest or any of the Greenwarden quests. They were written by some bastard that hates the world and is laughing at all of us right this minute. Ok rant over, im off to kick the dog....
I rather agree with that last statement. I worked on this mission for about a hour last night and ten minutes this morning with only three flints to show for it! Id much rather go to bed and wake up in one of JigSasws movies as one of his torture pawns then do this mission. Puke.
Subject: "Find the Fenrunners" The Fenrunners drop significantly higher than anything I saw. I got my 9 flint off of 12 or 13 kills. I found lots of them running around by themself in the northernmost part of Mosshide Fen, but there are probably easier places to find them.
The fenrunner comment is a solid suggestion, I pulled all my flint quite quickly off of two camps in the vicinity of 44, 34.
I didn't get flint off anything BUT Fenrunners, and they drop probably every other one.
even though ive read here about how easy it is to get these flints i jus wanna say ive killed about 15-20 already and have only gotten 2 flints so far :(
do not stick to fenrunners. i got good drops off all the gnolls at those coords. for me the trappers had a better drop rate than the fenrunners.

Subject: "Crude Flint" The Mob Southwest of ironbeards tomb is small enough to take on. for me 90% of them had a crude flint on them so just keep on fighting those guys and you should be done in about 5mins-10mins.
i agree with bb2809. the fenrunners are easy to pull and get 1 on 1 and the respawn is pretty quick.

Subject: "Fire Taboo" Well well, after i have read all these Comments i start to wonder... Because the Crude Flint dropp from all mobs at 52,26 and 50,29 it's just to kill all mobs. The reason for that is that you don't wanna wait to the Mosshide Fenrunners spawn......... So just kill and you will see it dropps. :P So have fun with Fire Taboo!

Subject: "Re: Fire Taboo [277]" 32,33 is a perfect wide open spot, you dont have to worry about getting mobbed, there is PLENTY around and its shorter walk back to menethil harbor after you complete the quest

I had lots of luck killing the Fenrunners, done in about 10 minutes. The spot I found, which is also closer to the quest giver, was around 42, 34. They do start running at a pretty early stage, so try to kill them quickly or root/ stun them if you can. If you happen to aggro some Trappers, watch out for their Net ability. Unless you are a druid and can shapeshift out.
Subject: "Re: Fire Taboo [277]" For those who have no coords: The best drop rate for the flints is in the swamp just before the road from menethil harbor forks to ironbeards tomb, on the left hand side.(On the right hand side there's angerfang camp) There are a few camps and the mosshides there (trappers and fenrunners) both carry the flints. They're easy to draw away from the camps. Drop rate 1 flint every 2 kills. As a bonus there is a chest with nice contents if u are not afraid to take on 2 at a time. Trap one, fight the other, and then fight the last one. Did it with my 28 druid solo. Peace of cake. Also some nice green drops too (about 4 or 5 green items doing this quest.) Not very bad if u look in the right place. had fun with it, hope u do too lol
Subject: "Re: Fire Taboo [277]" The camp over at 37, 28 worked out great for me. It's full of the high level Mosshides (the Brutes, Mystics, and Alphas), so be careful! It's right next to Ironbeard's Tomb.

Subject: "Re: Fire Taboo [277]" For me there was a better drop rate from the Brutes than the Fenrunners and Trappers SW of Ironbeards Tomb, i'd estimate about 1 in 3 dropped from the brutes as opposed to 1 in 4-5 from the others

Subject: "Re: Fire Taboo [277]" This quest is just infuriating because of all of the links.. If the drop was 100% it would be ok, but it's hard to pull only 1 at a time
I found that they have a long respawn rate. I ran through and killed everything and sat waiting with only 2 flints. Once they finally did respawn the drop rate was much better. I guess it really depends on luck.
Subject: "Re: Fire Taboo [277]" Has anyone completed the quest but when you go back to the quest giver it ignores you. When I go to the quest giver it has the yellow ? mark but when I click on it nothing happens this also happened to me on a quest in another area, am I doing something wrong?
Have you checked that you haven't left any flints in the bank? This is a common cause of quests saying they are completed yet you cannot hand the quest in.
