The acting, sound and video were all top grade. Most people will not regret the time they spent wasting it if they are a true horror film fan. It is not an OMG that was the shiznit type movie but it was decent. The demon is sexy enough that guys were probably thinking man I would so get caught by her. :) The movie was tame even with the nudity except for one scene where they "patched" up the guy who had his testicles explode. That was a little over the top, maybe it is because I am a guy and the thought of how much pain that would be was the issue. I know getting your heart ripped out or arm-twisted off is bad too but it's a guy thing I guess where injury to there makes you wince. Even a small slap there can hurt a lot. The movie had the potential for more but didn't reach it. It was good but not great like the original Dawn of the Dead (my favorite of those "of the Dead" movies followed by Night of the Living Dead) or Night of the Demons since others have referenced that.

The film PORNO is great. I'd give it an 8 or 9 out of ten. The only problem I have with the film itself is that none of the characters ever say it's 1992, or the year never appears onscreen to let you know it's the early 90s. Yes, Encino Man and A League of Their Own are the two films playing in the movie theater, but I thought the theater was just having a classic/90s movie night. The Blu-ray video and audio looks about as good as the film when I streamed it on Amazon Prime, but be aware that it is a BD-R, meaning the disc color is purple and not gold on the bottom. I don't think the disc is a bootleg because Cranked Up Films other Blu-ray release, Extra Ordinary, is listed as being a BD-R according to Blu-ray.com, so I'm thinking this is just how they get the media onto the discs.

Having liked scary movies for years but being more in between with the demonic ones. I was curious enough to try it since it was free. I'm going on my 3rd viewing of it and even though a few scenes make me cringe- being a guy myself, you can probably guess the cringe worthy scenes) and a few made me jump, I do like it. The sexual innuendo didn't bother me much, and religious fanaticism being face slapped again is always a treat for me, calling them out on their hypocrisy and deviously scandalous behavior. No I'm not anti- religion by any means, but I do have issues with 'fans' who have this holier than thou' persona to mask their own imperfections. But this isn't a sermon based review so I'll stop there with that.

Did you spend your youth watching the Night of Demons films? Did you like Lamberto Bava's Demons films? Did you wish it had more off camera sex and coed full frontal nudity? THEN THIS FILM IS FOR YOU! It plays like a mashup up of the two aforementioned movie series, but with more gore and nudity, but oddly less of a body count. No seriously, there's a distinct lack of deaths in this movie that really makes you question the PR the movie is getting. I mean, yeah, there's a few deaths but most of the characters get out with their lives. Maybe a little maimed, but alive. If anything takes away from this movie it's the unfortunate amount of unfilled promise. It's called Porno. It involves a sex demon and trips to alternate realities. It promises lots of offensive content. This thing should be like a supernatural mashup of Species 2/Xtro (but with demons instead of aliens) with the intensity of A Serbian Film. But instead it's really tame. I mean, exploding gonads is pretty ballsy but One Eyed Monster was more offensive. Worth a view, but wait for it to get to Shudder

I liked the humor included esp the religious aspect, perversion, and the woman playing the succubus. Very attractive. Story line plots and cast could have been developed more. Some of the tried and true moments are homages to other demon films but I thought it was well conceived. Some scenes were filmed too dark, shadows were overdone and so gotcha moments but it was light entertainment and some likeable actors. the one scene having to do with male genitalia was a bit too graphic and being in medicine he would have been in excruciating pain and not able to be heroic at all if that happened. But that is the magic of film, I guess.

This will be a short review because my title pretty much sums it up, and other reviews provide far better assessments of the film than I would. So here it is: The film has characters that I didn't despise. I almost never laugh when a film is trying to be funny, but this actually succeeded in making me smile. There is full frontal, but I can honestly say I would have liked it without that. It's solidly written for a B movie. Please understand, it IS in fact possible to screw up a B movie. All in all I'm glad I watched it. There are truly wonderful and meaningful films I wouldn't waste a minute reviewing, so it says something that I gave a nod to this one.

It's hard to come by a witty, intelligent, and at times really scary, gory horror film, especially one with a squirmy hilarious penis sequence. Wisely the filmmakers did not make these kids nerdy, awkward teens, but very intelligent, and legitimately honest and sincere Christians, who try to remain true to those Christians beliefs until a certain succubus is released from a can of film. Then all the fun breaks loose. I see it got high rating from Rotten Tomatoes, and that's saying what I say: see this movie. From the opening shot you know it's going to be one gigantic entertaining put on. Urge you to see it. You won't be disappointed.

Small-town cinema staff unleash a demonic spirit from an old film can in this uneven comedy-horror.
One of the more amusing promotions in the history of exploitation cinema was for Jess Franco’s sexy-arty 1967 “Necronomicon.” In the U.S., it was released as “Succubus,” but the distributor claimed that title was too shocking for publication, so newspaper ads included a phone number that could be called to hear the lascivious-sounding word (and its definition). That self-imposed hurdle pales next to the one filmmakers have handed themselves with “Porno,” a comedy horror that despite its XXX moniker (and some gore) mostly plays like a retro teen mall-flick fantasy in the spirit of “The Lost Boys” or “Gremlins.”
Keola Racela ’s film gets off to an amusingly self-aware start as youthful staff at an early 1990s movie house inadvertently summon up a real succubus hungry for their bodies and souls. Unfortunately, “Porno” gets more uneven as it goes on, with a somewhat slack midsection and a mix of earnestness, broad comedy, titillation, and moralizing that neither fully gels, nor makes something unpredictably wild out of those clashing elements. A bit of editorial tightening could brighten what’s likely to be a streaming future.
A mandatory prayer circle at the beginning of their shift suggests some mission higher than showing “A League of Their Own” and Pauly Shore vehicle “Encino Man” for the employees of a small-town cinema in 1992. Afterward, prissy Mr. Pike (Bill Phillips) leaves the place in the hands of Goth-styled Chastity ( Jillian Mueller ), newly appointed to assistant manager. She’s to supervise a combative “straight-edge” projectionist known as Heavy Metal Jeff (Robbie Tann); mischievous Abe (Evan Daves), who frequently drags guileless Todd (Larry Saperstein) into trouble; and fellow high schooler Ricky (Glenn Stott), Chaz’s crush object, just back from a mysterious summer sojourn at some corrective “camp.”
When things wind down for the evening, the crew discover a disheveled old coot (Peter Reznikoff) roaming the premises. He runs amok before disappearing into a hitherto unknown, hidden doorway. It leads to a secret additional theater whose less-than-suitable-for-children fare is suggested by such vintage posters as “10 Foot Hole, 10 Foot Pole.” The indigent man is nowhere to be found there, but among other weird errata, the staff find a musty old film can of 35mm reels and decide to thread ’em up.
What they see is the highlight of “Porno”: A nice replica of Kenneth Anger-ish occult psychedelia circa 1970. It mostly just puzzles the viewers, who being good Christian youth in a pre-internet age have no idea whether it’s supposed to be a “dirty movie” or an arty one. Of course. playing the film unleashes the onscreen succubus (Katelyn Pearce), who then preys on each person’s desires to steal their souls.
Though there’s a fair amount of nudity here (mostly Pearce’s), “Porno” is fairly juvenile in its “ewww” attitude towards sex, leaning more toward crude humor than anything overtly arousing. Lamberto Bava’s 1985 Italian hit “Demons” is recalled in premise (trapped in a theater by an evil movie) and some visual aspects (lots of Argento-style colored lighting gels). But its high energy is missed in a film whose midsection loses some momentum, and whose climaxes are just OK. Matt Black and Laurence Vannicelli’s screenplay could use some sharpened verbal wit, while the violence — notably some genital-mutilation gore — is neither funny nor scary enough to seem more than just gratuitous given the jokey overall tone. Likewise, the film takes the characters’ Christian beliefs just seriously enough to douse the initial edge of satire, yet not seriously enough to have any emotional resonance,
Performances are competent, though Tann is given perhaps a little too much leeway for a turn less comically inspired than the director or actor seem to think. Effects work, some deliberately on the cheesy side, is decent enough, while overall design and technical aspects are polished within the bounds of a little (if complicated) interior setting. Carla Patullo’s score is a nicely poker-faced channeling of fantasy-action soundtrack tropes from a generation ago.
There’s an amiability of intent and execution that keeps “Porno” watchable. But at the same time, its somewhat harmless tenor keeps the lid on a concept that would be much more memorable if it took its various sacred and profane elements further — in any or all directions.
