This seems a bit simpler than the accepted answer. Is there any case in which using URL.standardizedFileURL would differ from using the .canonicalPathKey approach?

I can't find documentation to indicate that canonicalPathKey would or would not resolve to the identical path representation as standardizedFileURL. But I'm not sure why it matters. The real question is, is there a case in which using standardizedFileURL will not work? I doubt the answer is yes. Just use standardizedFileURL. :)

In fact, /var is a symbolic link to /private/var :
For Swift users, using URL.standardizedFileURL eliminates the ambiguity/confusion caused by paths which contain soft links or other different elements that ultimately resolve to the same file.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
What do you expect, and what is happening instead?
I expect to receive/be able to read the file, but it looks like some sort of FS security layer prevents files from being accessed.
The use case is a broken phone (broken screen), which is now jailbreakable (thanks! 👍 ) and has some photos I'd like to recover.
Any other info, error logs, screenshots, ...?
I am unaware of the state of the phone due to broken screen, however the broken digitizer made it "auto-press" buttons all the time (you can hear the clicks), so it's likely to be in a disabled state (if lock screen PIN was pressed too many times).
you need to unlock the phone due to data protection, sorry :/

iOS limitation, enforced by the SEP. Absolutely nothing you can do about it, sorry.
