It was good. People got so hung up on the sexual content. The real story is about Love commitment.

I'm glad I watched all the Fifty Shades films up to this one. I first heard about Fifty Shades of Grey in 2015, but it took me until now to begin watching Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker, and this one. Not sure why I held back from watching the first one when all my friends recommended I watch it. Each film is a great story, especially if you look beyond the sex scenes. Ana and Christian have been a great match since their first meeting. Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan have great on-screen chemistry. The entire cast was fantastic. All the directors of each film were great.

Unfortunately how they wrote the Anastasia character, I just found her so annoying. She says she'll do something and doesn't. The only thing I could think is Christian is really a masochist to deal with how whiny and annoying she is. Her character could have been written and acted so much better and I like Dakota Johnson as an actress, the writer and director just really failed her here.

I use to just hear people raving about 50 shades... I thought it was just a glorified porno but the content of it was so great that I fully enjoyed the whole storyline. Definitely worth a watch!

Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele are married! Now they can have a wonderful life, one with erotic pleasures, exotic getaways, and racing on backroads with their late-model Audis. Life is good for them. But there’s one catch: Christian Grey’s issues. Will he ever move past his dark childhood? Will he lighten up and let his wife have her own identity? And who is stalking them? They’re getting threats, one of which includes a person thinking Grey owes him a life. Then there’s the children thing. Anastasia wants kids, Christian does not. (Somehow this topic never came up before.) Will they ever be able to get through their differences and be happy? People are quite critical of this franchise (and book series). They say it’s trash. They say the books are badly written. They say the actors are bad, and the plots are implausible. They say it glorifies (and romanticizes) abuse. They say Christian Grey is a control freak who wants to keep Anastasia on a leash. They say this is Twilight with handcuffs and whips instead of the sparkling vampires. All good points, but I must add a rebuttal. The movies and books are trashy, but sometimes people just want to read or watch something that doesn’t take itself too seriously. As for the books, you don’t buy this series and expect Shakespeare. You just don’t. The writing isn’t great, but I’ve read worse. Bad acting, implausible plot. The former is subjective, and the latter is irrelevant (most plots are unrealistic and implausible, unless you believe Liam Neeson can kill an entire army of people without so much as a scratch). Christian Grey is a control freak. Yes, he is, and Anastasia calls him out on it. She doesn’t let him mess with her, and he’s usually the one who ends up relenting. Does it romanticize abuse? I’ve seen abusive relationships in my life. Believe me, this doesn’t glorify abuse, not when the sexual relationship is consensual, and not when Christian and Anastasia end up compromising on things like the mature adults they are. (I grant you that it is different in the books. Grey comes off as abusive in the books, and I didn’t like it.) This is Twilight minus the vampires. This series started out as Twilight fanfic. What do you expect? (Boyce Fox, the author Anastasia acquires and signs to her imprint, is loosely based on E.L. James’s publishing experience.) I like the conclusion to this series. The third film focuses on the psychological damage that foster kids go through and how it affects them as adults. It deals with abandonment issues, which is the core of many of Grey’s problems. I give this film three and a half out of five mocha lattes.

These movies may not be great (objectively) but they still hold a certain place in my heart. Also, what’s wrong with a movie being bad? It’s funny in mocking it type of way. But there’s also romance and in this movie action (oddly)…so yeah four stars. I love it and I don’t care who knows.
