To live on in this turbulent world, to take revenge for her family, to seek justice for her entire village of a hundred and eighteen people who had their lives cut short, Lin Wanyue took the name of her younger twin brother Lin Feixing to enlist in the military , vowing to kill every single Hun under the sky . The Empress has passed into heaven, leaving the sixteen year old Eldest Princess, Xian and eight year old Crown Prince to depend on each other for survival. The other Seigniors who were older than the Crown Prince look upon the royal seat with ravenous eyes the position of these two siblings are in a precarious situation.
The story of a crossdressing General and a strategic all-knowing Eldest Princess enfolds; with betrayal, violence, thrilling romance, and acceptance.
Female General and Eldest Princess (often abbreviated as FGEP by fans) is a Girl's Love Historical Fiction drama set in Medieval China, albeit with heavy embellishments and an entirely made up cast of characters, written by a female author only known by their internet name; "Please Don’t Laugh" . The fist chapter was originally published in 2017 on the online, Chinese web novel site, JJWXC . Proving to be extremely popular as new chapters were published it would regularly end up on the very top of the websites charts. It finished its run in 2018; just a year after the first chapter was posted. Eventually a fully author-approved English fan translation was released and can be found here , alongside the original Chinese version .
It has gone on to be adapted into an Radio Drama, as well as a Chinese Manhua(web-comic), both of which are still ongoing.

Ahhh... this story made me cry a lot of times. The story is very heavy, and there are plenty of drama. I don't usually like dramas because it'll only add burden to my mental health LOL. However, the author succeeded on grasping my attention until the end! I binge read this story for only two days HAHAHA the characters are well-thought. Their individual agendas are crystal clear. My only problem is the names of the characters. It took me a lot of time to recognize them lol

In order to survive in troubled times; in order to get revenge for loved ones; in order to claim justice for all 118 people who died undeservedly in the village. Lin WanYue took the residence registration of her younger brother Lin FeiXing to join the army, and was determined to kill the Huns all over the world.
The empress died at court, leaving the 16 year-old princess and the 8-year-old crown prince to rely upon each other for their lives. Several princes older than the crown prince were greedy for the throne, and the two were in a precarious position.
Linwanyue was tortured, and tortured to the point where she tried to commit suicide. And the events after that. Why was that plot point necessary?? It’s also not explained how we got there. Like it just happened and we read about it from Li Xian’s POV when she finds out about it and makes her way there. And I think the perpetrators got away too easily. Li Xian obviously thinks so too and wishes she could have killed him so that makes me feel better but still......
Because we read about when linwanyue dies (and also Li xian afterwards). I haven’t cried like that for a story in so long, and I think it’s because I don’t usually read stories where the main characters deaths are written and also the circumstances regarding her death were really sad.
For me, a happy ending / good ending is when they solve all the problems and then finally get to live happily together. If you give me a story where they live happily together but also show me their deaths, that’s no longer a happy ending / good ending to me. That’s bittersweet at best. Even if they ended up together at the end and in the underworld, my whole mood is ruined because they died. I guess this is just personal preference for stories. I don't wanna read about MC deaths!!!
Before LX knew LWY was a girl, she had a high amount of respect, admiration, and care for her. She may not have felt romantic love, but she considered LWY as someone important to her. While she only fell IN love with LWY after she knew she was a woman, it wasn't like she just suddenly began to care for her out of nowhere. As I read once, 'a love without friendship is a mansion built upon sand.' As in, the foundation for their ROMANTIC relationship was their platonic one, which started in like... Chapter 20 or whatever, lol, so it definitely did not come out of nowhere.
personally I'm not a fan of having the main characters dying as the end, be it of old age or not. I like them having an open end with them still alive and happy. Don't get me wrong, the end and extras were done ver
