Everyone remembers the fantasy scene from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. You know, the one in which Brad Hamilton is in the bathroom fantasizing about Linda Barrett. Yeah, that one. It’s iconic. Now, it’s your turn to fantasize: Imagine that scene, but with Brad Pitt playing Brad, and Jennifer Aniston playing Linda. Actually, you don’t have to fantasize. That actually happened, last night.
Wednesday night, Sept. 17, Dane Cook produced a live table read of Fast Times, starring a slew of hotshots including Julia Roberts as Stacy, Morgan Freeman as the narrator, Shia LaBeouf as Spicoli, Matthew McConaughey as Mike Damone and the aforementioned former couple as Brad and Linda. The virtual table read was hilarious, with LaBeouf so in character (unsurprising) he almost stole the show. That is, until the pool scene. When Pitt’s character sees Aniston’s character in the pool in a bikini and heads up to his bathroom to pleasure himself while thinking about him.

Anyone who fantasizes about a Pitt/Aniston re-coupling got a little excited about this. Freeman narrated the whole thing while everyone tried to control their uncomfortable giggles. Including Pitt and Aniston. “She is gorgeous,” Freeman narrates. “Her breasts seem even bigger than usual.” Cue Aniston’s uncomfortable face scrunch, and an adorable knowing smirk from Pitt. We kid you not. This happened. “Hi Brad, you know how cute I always thought you were. I think you’re so sexy,” Aniston says as Linda, convincingly (she’s a good actress!). “Will you * come* to me?” she says while Pitt giggles and looks up at the camera (possibly blushing, or did we imagine that?). At this point, Aniston is giggling, too and the producers put the two actors on screen side-by-side (even though their filming at home, separately) in a way that made us feel like maybe, just maybe, they locked eyes through zoom, as if they had a shared secret. “She reaches out and grabs him for a kiss, pulling him close,” Freeman narrates as Pitt licks his lips (maybe they were just chapped but the timing is EVERYTHING) and the screen shows Roberts cracking up.
Then Freeman starts narrating the infamous moment where Linda undoes her bikini top. “Lord have mercy,” Freeman says, going off-script. Pitt and Aniston both kept straight faces, their eyes on their scripts. “They’re just about to fall into passionate lovemaking when we hear,” Morgan says, interrupting the world, dreaming about how the couple could be inspired to remarry after remembering their steamier times while filming this. “Hey, Brad, do you have any Q-tips?” Linda asks. “The dream evaporates and we see real- life again.” This is all too real.
But it doesn’t end there. As Freeman describes Linda walking in on Brad as he tries to cover himself, Pitt looks up at the camera, smirks and shakes his head. “Wait, just a minute!” Pitt says as Brad. Aniston is covering her mouth at this point, possibly in character. “Doesn’t anybody f*cking knock anymore?” Pitt says, as Brad, exasperated.
And that brings us to the end of this fantasy.
