Proving that clothing is well and truly optional for spring/summer 2018, a New York City-based brand has sent a completely starkers model down the catwalk.
Faux fur label Pelush NYC pushed the envelope with a brazen display of full-frontal nudity from one of the female models in the show.
The stunning woman showed off her lithe and toned physique by whipping off her black and navy embellished cape to reveal her completely naked body below and her vagina in full view.
Leaving the gorgeous garment strewn on the runway floor, she turned to give the audience an eyeful of her pert derrière and bare boobs.
The rest of the show featured pastel-hued furs emblazoned with the word “vegan” in glittering gold letters and simple monochrome t-shirts bearing animal rights messages.
“Cats and dogs are used for fur trims and trinkets,” a slogan read.
One said: “100million fur-bearing animals die each year.”
Another tee read: “1billion rabbits are killed and skinned for fur.”
While the nude move is one of the most shocking things to happen during this season’s New York Fashion Week, it’s not an entirely original idea.
Just last month Danish designer Nicholas Nybro shocked with a naked show at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
Some of his models were clothed, in gold Grecian gowns or dramatic pink ruffles, but others let everything hang out while sauntering down the runway – stunning the audience with a jaw-dropping display of nakedness.
So does this mean that nudity is the new black? Is it fashionable to forget clothing all together?
Nicholas’ collection was inspired by the human body and our perception of beauty ideals.
Speaking about his collection, Nicholas said: “I always design my collections with an important topic in mind.
“I chose the body, because I believe there is so much around us, both in the world and in fashion that tries to dictate the perception of the perfect body.
“We have become so timid and afraid to show our bodies and display what is underneath the clothes, which should be so natural.
“My collection is therefore a tribute to the human body and it’s thousands different ways of looking – something that constantly changes throughout life.”
Fashion label The Blonds also got the crowd riled up by showcasing it’s kinkiest line of swimwear yet.
Model Teyana Taylor risked a serious wardrobe malfunction as she walked the runway in skimpy blue PVC one-piece.
While over at Paris Fashion Week underwear models have taken to the catwalk wearing nothing but nipple covers and sheer thongs. One blonde walking for Etam walked nearly naked with just a smattering of butterflies covering her modesty.
