It’s hard to picture a world without lingerie modeling now. But before the late 19th century, women were wearing undergarments that weren’t exactly sexy or freeing. And even if they were wearing something they felt freeing in, it wasn’t something that commonly took place. It was almost frowned upon to feel sexy back then.
Lady Duff-Gordon is the person who molded lingerie and lingerie modeling into what we know it to be today. She was a pioneer in the movement for developing lingerie that was much more comfortable and free than the traditional corsets women were wearing.
Nowadays, lingerie modeling is talked about openly, and there are even fashion shows dedicated to showing off the fashion creations in the lingerie world. Lingerie models have to be incredibly comfortable in their bodies, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
There are hundreds of stunning and successful lingerie models and bra models in the world, but let’s take a look at 20 famous lingerie models of all time.
Rosie was born in 1987 in Plymouth, United Kingdom. Her career path is similar to that of other famous lingerie models who are Victoria’s Secret Angels. She began her modeling career at 15 years old but was generally unknown until her name blew up in 2008.
It’s hard to find a lingerie modeling campaign that hasn’t included Rosie at one point or another. She officially became a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2010, and her career only blossomed from there. She’s still modeling for major brands but has developed her own sleepwear line, Autograph, which has remained popular since its launch in 2012. She’s currently modeling with the Current Artists-Agency.
You can’t mention famous models without the name Gisele Bundchen. This Brazilian lingerie model was born in Brazil in 1980. She began her modeling career at age 17 in 1997 and has since become one of the best bikini and lingerie models of all time.
According to Forbes, she’s consistently been named one of the highest-paid models. As with many lingerie models, Gisele is a former Victoria’s Secret Angel who still models but also opens her own lingerie line called Gisele Intimates that’s headquartered in her hometown in Brazil. Gisele is currently signed with The Lions Management talent agency.
Candice is a stunning lingerie model from Mooi River, South Africa. She was born in 1988, and her modeling career began in 2003. Candice has appeared in editorials in several countries, including the United States, Germany, Brazil, Russia, and more. Besides her modeling career, Candice Swanepoel is a budding philanthropist.
In 2010, Candice earned her Victoria’s Secret Angel title and is still working with the brand to this day. She’s modeled for many high-end fashion brands as well as plenty of lingerie and swimsuit campaigns. She’s modeled for the Kardashians swimsuit line and is one of the highest-paid lingerie models as of 2016. As of 2018, she’s launched her own swimsuit line, Tropic of C. Brazilian beauty, Adriana Lima, was born in Salvador, Brazil, in 1981. Her modeling career began in 1997, and she’s shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon. She was a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 2000 until 2018, when she walked in her final VS fashion show.
Adriana Lima has been recognized as wearing one of the unique fantasy bras while walking with Victoria’s Secret. Since 2014, Forbes has listed her as the second high-paid model of all time. Though she’s not with Victoria’s Secret anymore, she’s still modeling and pursuing an acting career. Along with many other models, she’s currently signed to Creative Artists-Agency.
Even if you don’t follow models, you’ve heard the name Heidi Klum. Heidi was born in 1978 in Germany. Her modeling career began when she was 18 in 1991. She’s arguably the most famous Victoria’s Secret model of all time. She’s modeled for dozens of brands, and while she’s mostly left modeling, she’s still pursuing other career paths.
Upon leaving modeling, she launched her lingerie line, Heidi Klum Intimates. This allows her modeling legacy to live on while pursuing television hosting, Project Runway work, and other job opportunities.
Born in Czechoslovakia in 1973, Eva Herzigova is one of the best lingerie models of the 1990s. She won a beauty contest in Prague in 1989 at the age of 16, which began her career in the modeling world. Upon moving to Paris, her modeling career took off, making her one of the most well-known lingerie models in the 1990s.
She’s probably most well-known for her legendary campaign, Hello Boys Wonderbra, from 1994. This campaign was voted one of the most memorable and legendary campaigns in the United Kingdom. Frederique van der Wal was born in the Netherlands in 1967. She grew up in Hague and, throughout the 1990s, became one of the most popular lingerie models in the world. She’s worked with brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Revlon, and more.
During the beginning of her lingerie modeling career, her hourglass frame was something that wasn’t seen before in that world, and she was admired for it. She’s since left the modeling world, but she’s been featured in several films, talk shows, reality tv, and more. She’s been with various agencies in her career but is currently with Visage Management in Zurich.
Stunning Israeli lingerie model Shlomit Malka was born in Israel in 1993. Her modeling career began in 2011, and she’s still active in the modeling world. She’s one of Intimissimi’s latest “it” girls and is on the radar of every major lingerie brand in the world.
She’s been with Intimissimi since 2015 and continues to model lingerie for them and other brands. But, she does dabble in non- lingerie modeling. She’s worked with Armani, Lancôme, and many other prominent brands in the beauty and fashion industry. Shlomit is signed with The Lions agency currently.
Born in 1992 in the United States, Kate Upton has been a well-known name in the modeling world. Her modeling career began in 2008, and she’s most famous for her work with Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
She began her career as a Guess girl, but now you’ll find her as an ambassador for the world’s hottest and most popular lingerie brands. Miranda Kerr was born in Australia in 1983, and her modeling career launched in 1997 when she was only 13 years old. She was modeling for ten years before her career really took off in 2007. You may remember her from her brief marriage to actor Orlando Bloom. Her success with Maybelline landed her a spot as a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 2007. She was the first Australian Angel in history.
This drop-dead gorgeous Australian model has seen success at every turn in her career. Forbes has called her one of the most successful lingerie and general models of all time. Although she’s not with the prominent Victoria’s Secret brand anymore, she’s still well known in the modeling world. She’s still signed to a top modeling agency, IMG Models.
Born in London, Jourdan Dunn started her modeling career in 2006. She started at 16 years old after being discovered in a way that only seems to happen in movies . Not only is she one of Victoria’s Secret’s top models, but she’s also got a unique sense of style that young girls are known to copy and admire.
She’s done plenty of high fashion runway walks in her life, but her lingerie modeling career has helped put her name on the map. In 2015, she won fashion model of the year for the second time, and she was the first black model to make Forbes’ top-earning models list. Similar to other top models, Jourdan Dunn’s modeling agency is IMG Models.
Sui He is a famous Asian model who was born in China in 1989. She began her modeling career at 17 after winning a Chinese modeling contest. She’s walked in the Victoria Secret Angels fashion show for eight years and was only the second East Asian model to do so to this day.
