The leak of nude images stolen from a slew of female celebrities, actors and musicians looks set to continue after a new batch was uploaded to the web appearing to show well-known personalities including Miley Cyrus, Suki Waterhouse, Kate Hudson and Yvonne Strahovski.
On 15 March this year, the leaks, now dubbed " The Fappening 2.0 ", started to appear on a number of gossip and little-known pornography websites.
Initially, victims included Emma Watson, star of the recently-released Beauty and the Beast remake, and actor Amanda Seyfried.
In the past month, however, the full list of victims has swelled to include professional wresting stars, pop singers, musicians and comedians - including famous actor Kate Hudson, Walking Dead actor Lauren Cohan and British model Lacey Banghard.
In early April, Miley Cyrus, Suki Waterhouse and Rosario Dawson were all named as victims , initially by celebrity gossip websites. Around the same time, nude images and videos were posted online claiming to include Yvonne Strahovski, Ariel Winter, Dianna Agron and Miesha Tate.
This first round of leaks was blamed on weak security of Apple iCloud accounts, used to store images and documents. There has been multiple arrests, with one 36-year-old called Ryan Collins being jailed for 18 months last year after being found guilty of hacking charges.
The full list of alleged Fappening 2.0 celebrities so far:
The source of the leaks remains unclear, however, some speculate that – like the 2014 "Fappening" – it could be a result of online hacking.
Those included in the leaks have each responded in different ways. Some have claimed they will take legal action against the websites hosting the images, while some have ignored the publications completely. Others have taken to Twitter to deny the leak altogether.
"I love how everyone's freaking out about one picture. It's not nude and it's just cleavage," said pop singer Demi Lovato on Twitter this week (21 March), in response to media reports in the tabloid press that she was included in a fresh batch of nude photographs.
"As they say, don't believe everything you see on the internet. There's people out there with a lot of time on their hands & a big imagination," wrote professional WWE wrestler Summer Rae, real name Danielle Moinet, on Twitter earlier this after her photos did leak .
A spokesperson for Emma Watson, one of most high-profile celebrities impacted so far, admitted images had been stolen but denied they were explicit. "They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further," the statement read.
Both Amanda Seyfried and Rose McGowan responded with a more aggressive stance. Seyfried's legal team sent a letter to one of the websites hosting the content of her in an "intimate moment" and demanded them be taken down, saying they had been "wrongfully obtained".
Rose McGowan, on Twitter, addresses the so-called hackers head-on. The Charmed actor reported the incident to the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and wrote on Twitter to her 651,000 followers: "Hey little hacker boys, Mama is coming and she hits hard."
The leaks show no sign of slowing and the full scope (and the culprit) remains unknown at the time of writing. It comes three years after the initial "Fappening" which saw 100-plus public figures impacted by explicit leaks – including Jennifer Lawrence, Kelly Brook and Kate Upton.

Seems like those two subs, along with any other subs created and centered around the recent celebrity nude leaks have all been banned/getting banned.
So far, I don't think there's been any official statements by Reddit's admins regarding this, so pretty much everyone is guessing at this point as to why this is happening.
I remember how big a deal it was when r/jailbait got banned - there was a lot of warning, a lot of explanation, and undeniable reasons why it had to go to keep from bringing down the whole site.
It looks like the bar has been lowered and the floodgates have been opened to just ban any subreddit any time they feel like it... sad, really.
r/celebnsfw is still up but I dont see any leaks there
Alienth made a post in announcements but im on mobile so i cant link
Admin /u/yishan posted on r/blog here for the reasons why.
If I were the admins I would delete all the posts/comments that link to the nudes but leave the subreddits open. The reason behind this is that by removing the subreddit they are policing what we can have a subreddit about. If they just deleted the links then they would push the subreddit into a place for the discussion of the event/images which admittedly no-one would really want to do and hence the subreddit would become obsolete. The result is the same but it would leave us with a the feeling that we have a little more freedom. This said, the work required would take up a lot of time and wouldn't really be worth it. Just food for thought.
Apologies for piggybacking, but another out of the loop question: several posters discuss some r/games "gamergate" thing there...can anyone explain that one real quick?
r/thesecondcumming is down to but yet r/celebritynudearchive and other celeb nude subreddits are still around just fine seems strange as they contain the same images their difference being they are not based around the one incident
spoke too soon. god damn I hate lawyers
MY guess is that lawyers finally threatened reddit enough to get it banned.
I also wanna add that reddit is completely corporate now so no one should have expected otherwise. It's actually amazing it lasted so long.
Then shouldn't all celebrity nude reddits be taken down instead of those specific ones?
It's completely corporate and yet we have r/picsofdeadkids ?
Fuck it, I won't miss a sub dedicated to jerking over stolen photos from people who don't want their naked bodies shared with the world. There are a bazillion subs dedicated to people who share their bodies by choice. I have difficulty seeing that as 'corporate' but i guess i'm just not hardcore enough or something.
