The leak of nude images stolen from a slew of female celebrities, actors and musicians looks set to continue after a new batch was uploaded to the web appearing to show well-known personalities including Miley Cyrus, Suki Waterhouse, Kate Hudson and Yvonne Strahovski.
On 15 March this year, the leaks, now dubbed " The Fappening 2.0 ", started to appear on a number of gossip and little-known pornography websites.
Initially, victims included Emma Watson, star of the recently-released Beauty and the Beast remake, and actor Amanda Seyfried.
In the past month, however, the full list of victims has swelled to include professional wresting stars, pop singers, musicians and comedians - including famous actor Kate Hudson, Walking Dead actor Lauren Cohan and British model Lacey Banghard.
In early April, Miley Cyrus, Suki Waterhouse and Rosario Dawson were all named as victims , initially by celebrity gossip websites. Around the same time, nude images and videos were posted online claiming to include Yvonne Strahovski, Ariel Winter, Dianna Agron and Miesha Tate.
This first round of leaks was blamed on weak security of Apple iCloud accounts, used to store images and documents. There has been multiple arrests, with one 36-year-old called Ryan Collins being jailed for 18 months last year after being found guilty of hacking charges.

The source of the leaks remains unclear, however, some speculate that – like the 2014 "Fappening" – it could be a result of online hacking.
Those included in the leaks have each responded in different ways. Some have claimed they will take legal action against the websites hosting the images, while some have ignored the publications completely. Others have taken to Twitter to deny the leak altogether.
"I love how everyone's freaking out about one picture. It's not nude and it's just cleavage," said pop singer Demi Lovato on Twitter this week (21 March), in response to media reports in the tabloid press that she was included in a fresh batch of nude photographs.
"As they say, don't believe everything you see on the internet. There's people out there with a lot of time on their hands & a big imagination," wrote professional WWE wrestler Summer Rae, real name Danielle Moinet, on Twitter earlier this after her photos did leak .
A spokesperson for Emma Watson, one of most high-profile celebrities impacted so far, admitted images had been stolen but denied they were explicit. "They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed and we are not commenting further," the statement read.
Both Amanda Seyfried and Rose McGowan responded with a more aggressive stance. Seyfried's legal team sent a letter to one of the websites hosting the content of her in an "intimate moment" and demanded them be taken down, saying they had been "wrongfully obtained".
Rose McGowan, on Twitter, addresses the so-called hackers head-on. The Charmed actor reported the incident to the US Department of Justice (DoJ) and wrote on Twitter to her 651,000 followers: "Hey little hacker boys, Mama is coming and she hits hard."
The leaks show no sign of slowing and the full scope (and the culprit) remains unknown at the time of writing. It comes three years after the initial "Fappening" which saw 100-plus public figures impacted by explicit leaks – including Jennifer Lawrence, Kelly Brook and Kate Upton.

Three years after the original 2014 event , “The Fappening 2.0” appears to be underway. The original “Fappening” was the crassly conceived moniker for the day a hacker broke into the cloud storage accounts of a number of celebrities and stole nude, suggestive, altogether private photos online. Since then, there have been a number of smaller-scale leaks , but now it appears another leak of the same caliber has taken place, with celebrities like Amanda Seyfried and Emma Watson allegedly being first affected. The hacker has also reportedly named Kylie Jenner, Marisa Tomei, and several others.
It’s unclear yet exactly how this new hack occurred but the method seems to largely be the same as the last time: gaining access to and stealing from private iCloud and Gmail accounts. The pictures were then posted to sites like sites like Reddit and Celeb Jihad, from where they can be notoriously difficult to take down.
In the original “Fappening,” the hacker, identified as Ryan Collins, hacked around 50 iCloud and 72 Gmail accounts via a simple phishing scheme . From 2012 onward, Collins sent his victims emails that looked like notifications from Apple or Google in which he asked them to re-enter or provide their login data. It was that easy. People fell for it, and their privacy was violated.
The story is still developing, and most celebrities have yet to comment on the rumors they have been targetted. But Amanda Seyfried has reportedly demanded via her lawyer that Celeb Jihad take down the pictures, lending some veracity to the rumors of the leaks. Emma Watson, however, has denied that the photos of her are real . “They are not nude photographs. Lawyers have been instructed, and we are not commenting further,” said a spokesperson for Watson.
But the internet is hardly willing to wait for confirmation. Already the scummiest of individuals have taken to chat rooms and message boards to celebrate (Warning: The worst people the internet has to offer). “Point Me in that direction,” said one user Wednesday on the IGN message boards, while others express their disappointment at not being able to locate the pictures yet. IGN has since removed that message thread, a move indicative of the sensitivity surrounding this issue.
For the rest of us, leaks like this are harsh reminders that nobody deserves to have their privacy violated and that there are measures everyone can take to make their online presence safer. First and foremost, knowledge is key . When it comes to phishing emails, the kind that were used in the original “Fappening” and which maybe have been used this time as well, know that companies like Google, Apple, and Microsoft will never contact you to ask for information .
If you receive an email from those or other platforms asking for login details or other information, delete it . It’s also a good idea to regularly update things like passwords and security questions. Doing that will help ensure that any information a hacker comes across will be outdated and useless. Online security, whether on a national or individual level, is a serious matter. While people should always refrain from blaming the victim when a breach does occur, there are steps we all can take to protect our information.

Hollywood was apparently rocked by another Fappening scandal, loosely dubbed the Fappening 2.0, after alleged naked picture of actresses Amanda Seyfried and Emma Watson leaked to blogs and social media Wednesday. The stars did not immediately respond to the invasion of privacy, but the nude images appear to be authentic.
If they are victims of a new hack, they’re not alone. Dozens of celebrities were exposed when hacker Ryan Collins accessed explicit images through Gmail accounts and Apple iCloud through a phishing scheme and leaked them online. In October, he pleaded guilty and is serving 18 months in federal prison. It’s unclear if Collins was behind the 2.0 hack.

Lawrence issued a statement to Vanity Fair after her private photos were leaked. She explained she took to explicit images because she was in a long distance relationship. “I can't even describe to anybody what it feels like to have my naked body shoot across the world like a news flash against my will,” she said about the 2014 scandal. “It just makes me feel like a piece of meat that's being passed around for a profit.”
“Just because I'm a public figure, just because I'm an actress, does not mean that I asked for this. It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It's my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that we even live in that kind of world,” she said. “People forget that we're human.”

Fappening 2.0 began with image and video leaks of Harry Potter star, Emma Watson, supermodel, Amanda Seyfried and Mischa Barton.What was just a flow of NSFW images soon became a deluge as the iCloud hackers started leaking more and more images and videos of more and more celebrities. As said in our earlier post, unlike the Fappening 1.0 of 2014, this time the Fappening hackers have gone versatile and are also leaking images of WWE stars and singers.
If you have been following Techworm’s Celebgate 2014 coverage, the brunt of Fappening 1.0 concentrated on Hollywood stars. The new Fappening 2.0 seems to concentrate more on other celebrities. It all began with private photos of Emma Watson and Amanda Seyfried circulating on the “dark web” and then on 4chan last week before the images made it to Reddit. Thereafter a raunchy website called Celeb Jihad picked up the images and videos. Now the hackers are directly leaking the images and videos to Celeb Jihad.
The Fappening 2.0 hackers then proceeded to leak more private images of celebrities like Rose McGowan (actress), Katie Cassidy (actress), Alyssa Arce (model), Rhona Mitra (actress), Analeigh Tipton (figure skater & actress), Iliza Shlesinger (comedian), Jillian Murray (actress), Paige (WWE star), Dylan Penn (model, daughter of Sean Penn), Kristanna Loken (actress), April Love Geary (model), Trieste Kelly Dunn (actress), and Lili Simmons (actress).”
As we have been reporting about various NSFW Fappening leaks, we have collated the data and prepared a master list of all the celebrities who have been targeted by the iCloud hackers. The list follows no particular order. Also, please note that the hackers may have leaked the Fappening 1.0 images in case of some of the celebrities.

As you can see, top level Hollywood stars are missing from the current list of Fappening 2.0. So, we are expecting another tranche of leaks covering big stars of Hollywood. This is based on ground whispers and what our friends at Hacker News had commented, “According to a screenshot from an original 4chan thread, unknown hackers will be posting more intimate photos of female celebrities, including Kylie Jenner, Marisa Tomei, Jennifer Lawrence and several others, over the next few days, which indicates it’s just the beginning of The Fappening 2.0.”
