We are looking forward to unbelievably fantastic 2022 Redwood Coast (come-back) Summit! Registration details will be posted in August.
We are collaborating
with Humboldt State University...
..to bring you the most
fulfilling Summit ever
Every year, Family Nature Summits brings together families and friends from across the country to discover more of America’s wild places.
It is with deep regret we must announce that FNS has been forced to cancel the 2021 Summit due to circumstances beyond our control. Our 2021 summit hosts, the Silver Bay YMCA Resort, have adopted a Summer 2021 COVID policy which will no longer accommodate a group of our size. BUT, unfortunate circumstances will not keep us down! The FNS board is now focusing on an unbelievably fantastic 2022 Redwood Coast (come-back) Summit! Registration details will be posted in June.

Until 2007, Family Nature Summits were called Conservation Summits and organized by the National Wildlife Federation. To learn more about our history and mission, go to our About Us page.
“I recently returned my first Summit at Shanty Creek Michigan. I can’t wait for the next one. It was so well planned / organized. I learned so much and met so many people from such diverse backgrounds. Every day there was always something new to discover – and a wide variety of options to choose from oriented to all ages and abilities. What fun from start to end.”
“I love the interaction between the generations, not just the kids and adults, but the adults of different ages and backgrounds.”
“I think what had the biggest impact for me was the enthusiasm of the summiteers and the faculty. It was a reawakening to see how excited folks became just to see a butterfly sipping from a flower or a crawdad in a creek. Sometimes we forget the natural wonders around us and how satisfied a simple discovery can make us feel.”
“There is really nothing out there like Family Nature Summits. My family and I travelled quite a bit around our little blue sphere and tried quite a few vacations on for size…. yet year after year we keep coming back to the Summits.”
“I loved having the kids engaged in something special so I could head out guilt free for a day of something meaningful to me!”
“Every child in America should go to a Family Nature Summit….at least once! We would be a better country for it, I’m convinced.”
“I love getting together with like-minded nature enthusiasts. The entire staff I was involved with was very accommodating and eager to please.”

Family Nature Summits provide an immersive experience with programming for every age.
The US is home to countless natural wonders – lakes, mountains, forests, deserts, oceans – that we all deserve to enjoy, but it’s hard to know where to go, what to do when you visit and how to share it all with your family. At Family Nature Summits you learn while you play with programming designed for every age group – from the young to the young at heart – giving all Summit participants the opportunity for a fulfilling experience at each new location.
A non-profit organization devoted to environmental education and appreciation of nature, history and culture through a week of adventure for all ages and backgrounds.
Starting with the first “Conservation Summit” in July, 1970, the National Wildlife Federation played host to hundreds of families and thousands of individuals at diverse locations throughout North America (including Canada, Alaska and Hawaii).
In 2007, the Family Nature Summits started our own not-for-profit and we have continued the Summit traditions begun so many years ago under the auspices of NWF. We still retain a close association with our parent organization, especially through the inspiring Craig Tufts Scholarship which is promoted every year in Ranger Rick magazine.
As a non-profit organization we are run by a volunteer board and leadership whose goal is to give our attendees a unique vacation exploring the natural world with family and friends.
