Facts About Hypnotherapy

hypnobristolpractice

The word hypnotherapy is derived from two words which are hypnosis and therapy. Hypnosis, a state of focus, concentration and relaxation, in which the person is neither fully awake nor fully asleep. The  mind becomes open and receptive to new ideas, to new suggestions, changing the way one thinks, the way he feels, and ultimately the way he behaves.

The mind is split into two halves, the conscious mind. That's everything one is aware of right now. And the unconscious mind where one is  unaware of everything. That makes up one's decision making process.

The unconscious mind is formed from everything from the day a person is born, his upbringing, his education, his belief systems, his values, and his experiences. All of this works together very quickly to make up the decision making process, to do something, to avoid something, to be in fear of something, or to enjoy something.

If people think about the mind is an iceberg in the ocean. The tip of the iceberg above sea level can be compared to the conscious mind. It's actually very small. But if one looks at the iceberg beneath the sea, it's vast in comparison. That's the vast resources of the unconscious mind. So by changing the unconscious mind, one actually changes his conscious reactions and his behaviors.

So hypnotherapy works faster than behavior therapy, six sessions compared to 22 or more. Hypnotherapy works faster than psychoanalysis, six sessions compared to 600 or more, and hypnotherapy displayed a higher percentage of success with a 93% success rate.

A lot of people would ask, will he be under and not know what's going on during hypnosis? No, hypnosis is not about being unconscious. It's about changing the unconscious mind, which is where all the fears, phobias, bad habits, and limiting beliefs are stored.

Anyone can be hypnotized. For example, when a person has been driving home in familiar streets while the sun is out then the mind wanders off to a certain occasion and then he finds himself at his destination without conscious recall.

Hypnosis has been practiced since 1955. It's been recognized by the British Medical Association as an approved treatment. And it's now developed into a science.

There's a section devoted to medical hypnosis at the Royal Society of medicine in London. And hypnosis can deal with a vast array of issues such as fears, phobias, weight loss, anxiety, panic attacks, confidence, eliminating bad habits and addictions and so much more. One of the best things to do in Bristol is to visit the beautiful neighborhood of Clifton where you can find the Royal York Crescent. It is where you can find the beautiful terrace of 46 houses that was built by James Lockier from 1791. Due to many problems brought on by the war with the French, it took another 30 years before the Crescent was completed in 1820. And it was once believed to be the longest Crescent in Europe.
