Facebook is blocking my website for more than 9 months. It won't tell me why!

For reasons I can't fathom, I hate working from the same place for extended periods of time. Thus, I'm constantly on the look for new, cool co-working spaces and coffee shops to try.

Finding the right place, when I needed it wasn't always easy. So I decided to build a public listing of all coworking spaces in my country, Tunisia. After weeks of work, collecting data by contacting space owners, developing the actual site, etc., my website was ready for prime time!

Oh, and it got a cool domain name, too: chouf.space. (In Tunisian, this means "look for space", so yeah).

Next step? Sharing the link with all my 100+ Facebook friends so they use it if they find it of any use. But Facebook had other plans for me and my new little website. It blocked it; I can no longer post any link to my website on the platform (including via messenger, on Instagram's bio -- but curiously not on WhatsApp).

This is the message I get when I try to share a link to my website.

As the screenshot above shows, the message wasn't clear on what was Facebook upset about other than that "this link goes against our Community Standards." Of course, I spent hours on end reading those guidelines, over and over, trying to find out what caused the mishap. to no avail.

Needless to say, my website was (and is) still welcome on other platforms, including Twitter and LinkedIn. Google showed no sign of discomfort with my little baby, and even giving it a better place in the SERP with every new day.

So, yes, I sent a complaint via the link provided. And did it again. And again. And again. Till I stopped counting.

Not a single answer from Facebook.

Using Facebook's own debugging tool was not that useful, either. And I don't know what am I supposed to do when the debugger isn't willing to tell me what bugs he's complaining about!

They call this a "debugger". Wondering why?

Anyways. I spent the next 9 months or so looking for a way to find out what was wrong with my site -- I left no stone unturned: adding stuff, removing stuff, replacing stuff with other stuff, ... Yet, nothing seemed to help.

This is so frustrating.

While I understand the need for policing the huge network that Facebook is, and salute them for doing so, I can't see how this attitude is of any help. Why won't Facebook tell me what went wrong so that I can fix it and avoid falling for it the next time around? How is this helping any of us?

This got so frustrating that I started dreaming about it! No shit!

"Luckily" for me, this website is of no financial interest to me. It just is a hobby project that helped me acquire so many new skills. Yet, this didn't stop me from wondering what would happen if the stakes were higher? Don't we deserve a better funnel to treat such an extreme measure as blocking a website from the platform?

Yeah, so many questions. And no answers. Just dreams.
