A SELF-DESCRIBED "hot mum" has insisted she won't stop dressing sexily, despite the fact that all her son's friends have crushes on her.
Jen Ferguson features in the latest episode of Truly's My Extraordinary Family, and explained that she loves the "sexy vibe" of her wardrobe, and dressing younger than her 31 years.
"People judge me for being a hot mum," she said.
"They assume I’m a bad mum because I show skin but I’m still a fantastic mum. I just show it off!
"I have been judged for wearing this and things like this.
"I think their biggest problem is they think I’m a mum, I have sons, I shouldn’t be showing this.
"But come on, we all have a chest, we all have a body."
Jen is currently expecting her second child - her first with fiance Stephen, who is 12 years older than her - and also revealed that while she may slightly alter her clothing choices while she's pregnant, she still wants to be sexy.
"Nowadays, that I am carrying this baby, I don’t like to wear super tight all the time - I’ll wearing something a little more ‘mum-like’," she said, while holding up a lilac shirt.
"But yeah, this isn’t that fun. I make sure I unbutton it a little bit!"
The video episode also saw Jen's son Levi - who she had when she was just 19 - interviewed.
Asked if he ever gets embarrassed by the way his mum dresses, Levi replied: "Sometimes.
"She dresses in clothes that are short, like very short."
However, he wouldn't want to change her wardrobe - despite the fact that her style has attracted admiration from his classmates.
"All my friends have a huge crush on my mum, like all of them," he sighed.
"I’m not even joking when I say this, too.
"If she dressed and acted differently she’d be different than what she is now, and I don’t want anything different than what she is now."
Jen has also become stepmum to Stephen's two sons from his first marriage.
Lincoln, the older of the boys, insisted he also didn't mind the way Jen dresses or doing TikTok videos.
And Jen actually thinks her reputation will help her sons at school.
"I think the kids are more likely to be bullied if they had a frumpy, old, not cool mum than they are for having a cool young mum who tries to stay in with the trends - you can’t really go wrong with having a cool mum," she laughed.

I’ve photographed Lucy before, but she’s expecting a little boy soon so this time was a real treat!
I feel like I’m way better at bump boudoir sessions now that I’ve been pregnant myself lol! I appreciate them more too.
When I was 7/8 months pregnant, I felt like I couldn’t walk across a room without needing to sit down, and my ankles were the size of my calves by about 11AM, so I really do get the struggle now. So, I’ve introduced some new improvements for bump sessions. First, I work quicker, so you’re standing and posing for less time. We have snacks and take snack breaks. We try to do as many comfortable looks as possible, minimise the number of times you have to move from standing to sitting, and I won’t let you stand in heels for more than 10 minutes. If you’d like to shoot early morning to minimise your cankle situation, fine by me:)
Lucy is actually wearing normal lingerie here! A good idea in case you have a few bits you can still squeeze into. Sexy pregnancy lingerie is pretty hard to find lol!
A simple slip like this is a really good option too. In general, anything really stretchy will work.
This is a great variation on the “Sunday Morning” slouchy jumper feel. Wardrobe options like this can also work for a few shots you can send to family if you want to.
A simple H&M maternity dress. Anything with a waist tie like this does a great job of showing off a bump, while also skimming over your (let’s face it, probably way bigger than normal) hips and bum.
Wishing you and baby all the best Lucy, you’ll be a fabulous mama.
Katie used a boudoir shoot to motivate herself at the gym following the birth of her daughter, who I think was about a year old when we shot these. A looming boudoir photoshoot sounds like a great strategy to keep you showing your face at the gym, and it clearly worked really well for her because she looks like a million bucks. I’m always curious what people are up to, so I asked about her workout secrets. She said her routine was mainly hot yoga. Now, I’ve never done hot yoga myself because let’s be honest, I wash my hair as little as possible, and a room that sweaty makes me think I’d definitely have to wash my hair after. I’m sort of thinking about it now though…
This shoot was part of my Nov. 2016 trip to New Orleans. If you’ve missed earlier posts, the reason I’m blogging these so late is a long, boring story that can be boiled down to two words: technical difficulties. Better late than never right? I’m pretending to hear you say yes.
Meet Miranda, a brilliant photographer, mother, wife, business owner, and more. How this woman does sooo many things, all so well, I’ll never know.
We got together for a quick photo shoot while we were both in New Orleans for the Association of International Boudoir Photographers retreat. The day was crazy with lots of shoots and multiple photographers all in one space, so I’m pleased it doesn’t show too much in the final images lol!
We did a couple quick outfits, I think the white lace bodysuit was my personal favourite, but see what you think:)
50something is looking pretty fantastic on Charlotte for her boudoir photoshoot in London. Prepare yourselves for about a hundred images of this woman, because she’s real life #goals. Mother, wife, career woman, funny, has a cool job, is independent but still committed to her family, confident but humble, has great taste in shoes, etc. I’m a little bit in love with her. She was flying into London with her family for the weekend and contacted me on a bit of a whim. We managed to pull everything together in just a few days, AND keep everything a secret. Which is great, because C did this for herself and wasn’t sure she wanted to tell anyone. I think in the end her lucky husband did get a look, but this really wasn’t about him, which I love. #doitforyourself
We started with an old school glamour feel, which is a nice way to ease into a boudoir shoot.
If all else fails, throw in the expensive things – silk, pearls, lace, gold, fur, the family jewels…
…and then pretend to gaze at the poolboy. Or lunch. Whichever you fancy more I guess?
I mean COME ON. If I look this good at 50, you’re going to have to widen the doorways so I can swan in with my big head and overinflated ego.
These boots are a real winner. Big heels trick the eye into thinking your legs are much longer than they really are, so if you’d like to look a bit taller and leaner, I’d recommend a pair of stilettos for your shoot. You don’t even have to be able to walk in them, just lounge around on a bed
Grainy black and whites all day long. We’re moody like that.
How nice is this Agent Provocateur corset? Also, what a total lingerie snob I am.
These boots are legit my favourite shoes of the year.
Effortless. You know what isn’t cool? Retouching or “airbrushing” skin to death. I think you should look like you – sure, the best version of you, with great hair and makeup, and beautiful lighting, but still YOU.
Overdone skin retouching is an insult to women everywhere. Of course some people will always love that blurry, where-are-the-edges-of-your-nose, pore-free look, but I think it’s ridiculous. I would go so far to say it’s a photoshop sin one should be ashamed of.
Your freckles should show, your hard earned smile lines are a part of you now. Don’t make me erase them.
Real beauty is radiant, just the way it is.
I’m learning French. This is: un corset
Oh you know I was always going to make her do this. That yoga is paying off big time.
More great shoes. Charlotte wins the shoe prize this year.
Such a pretty looking pose. So uncomfortable though, it’s really not an easy one.
You know I’m not a big prop person, but this I don’t mind. If you’re going to be brave, you might as well throw in something daring.
Oh Charlotte, what to even say about you?! It was an honour and a pleasure and you did GREAT. I think these images are going to inspire lots of women like you, and your daughter too. Hope to see you again soon, maybe closer to home next time;)
As you all know, I’m terribly behind with this blog – Tanja and I shot this bump boudoir session around Easter! Better late than never though…right? Say yes, because everything from here on out is likely to be late lol!
Anyway, it’s always lovely to photograph women who are growing little ones, but as a lot of my clients prefer to keep these images private it’s an extra special treat to have a few images to share with you:) Please enjoy.
It’s no picnic being heavily pregnant, and although you’d never know it from these Tanja was feeling pretty worn out. This is nearly always the case with pregnant clients, which is why I’m in favour of bump sessions that are both quick and barefoot. Simple lingerie is all you need for a look like this.
We borrowed Tanja’s friend’s flat for the shoot – a magical little haven in the city that looks half French and half rainforest.
Tanja found this gown for cheap (somewhere like Amazon or Ebay), and it’s such a lovely way to show off a new figure.
The sheer lace is still sexy, but it’s less revealing than lingerie. Not to mention it will give you a bit more coverage if, you know, you’re not really feeling the water retention and cellulite that usually joins the party about now.
I mean – pregnant and super hot are not mutually exclusive. These aren’t the images you show your in laws, but you ought to have them for yourself. You’ve earned them.
Bump by firelight. The front split on this piece works really well for showing off a belly, and it is especially good for taking attention away from any baby-induced love handles.
Gaahh this woman. She makes it look effortless.
I mean, it’s not though. Boudoir photo shoots are hard work, which is why we’ll keep it short if you’ve got a baby on board.
Another simple lingerie set, this one in a baby blue:)
The garden was so tropical – a perfect set for swimwear.
Can you believe this was in London?
Beautiful new editorial style headshots with our two minutes of sunshine.
Plunging one piece. Grainy black and white. Messy hair. Everything working together here.
A few more commercially toned images from this set as well.
We did a bit of street style / bloggery type fashion too.
And finally a floral dress that makes it look 10x warmer than it was;)
Tanja you were fab, thank you! Best wishes for the three of you <3
I’m so pleased to finally be sharing Anna’s NYC boudoir photography session with you. It’s been months since we met up in Brooklyn and created these images, but that means nothing – this shoot is definetly in my top 5 favourites of the year.
I’m struggling with what to tell you about Anna because I’m just so fangirl impressed by her. She’s gracious and cool and funny. She wears all the hats at once (wife, mother, entrepreneur, etc.). Plus, she’s got great style, and an effortless kind of beauty that can’t be denied.
Anna doesn’t wear much makeup in her everyday life, so she was understandably nervous about makeup for her shoot. Unfortunately, a lot of newer makeup artists just don’t know what to do with skin or facial features different from their own. It’s very common for black women to come away from a new makeup artist looking ashy and slightly dead. Anna introduced me to the official term for this, which I now use at all the time; “funeral face.”
I insist on professional, experienced makeup artists that come by way of recommendation whenever possible. If you’re in London, I’d be happy to recommend a few genius girls. If you’re further afield, it’s best to get a recommendation from someone you trust, or you can ask a great wedding or boudoir photographer in your area for a few suggestions. You also want to make sure there are women who look like you in the makeup artist’s portfolio. Don’t allow yourself to be the first and only Chinese face she or he has touched.
Thankfully, I had brilliant makeup artist Victoria with me, and we convinced our lovely client we knew what we were doing;) Of course the result turned out stunning, but with such natural beauty and incredible cheekbones I never had any doubt.
We started off with this cute cotton ribbed bodysuit with snap front. Anna is wearing her husband’s favourite earrings.
I like starting with a barefoot set. There’s a lot to think about when posing, and it helps if you’re not trying to balance in sky high heels right from the start.
If you’re like me and constantly have a hair band on your wrist, please help me remember to have you take it off lol! We usually catch it eventually, but missed in in this image on the right.
Historic woodwork and natural window light for these.
A quick wardrobe change and we have a completely different look – just add heels, a high waisted lace lingerie set, and throw your hair up.
For me, working on location is about making the best use of a space and it’s available light. Often (who am I kidding, always) this means I work up a sweat rearranging furniture, but it’s worth it. I do NYC boudoir photography sessions in a variety of locations, we can chat about the sort of look and feel you’re after for your own shoot.
A high waisted knicker might not seem like your thing, but I’d encourage to give them a try. They are almost universally flattering, so you might like it better on your body than you do on the hanger.
I mean, doesn’t Anna just look divine?
Hands down, my favourite image of the shoot. #slay
I love it so much I’m posting it twice.
A few floor poses. How much you’re able to arch depends on your flexibility and bone structure, but don’t worry – any amount makes for a great shot.
I’m a little bit obsessed with this image too.
A stretchy, form-fitting piece like this is great for showi
