FP&A & Financial Systems Manager

FP&A & Financial Systems Manager

Digital nomads. Work from anywhere

Company: Skylight Financial & Accounting Solutions

About the Role
Skylight Financial is seeking an analytical, client-focused FP&A & Financial Systems Manager to support financial planning, reporting, and decision-making across a portfolio of growing companies.
This person will build driver-based forecasts, financial models, management reports, and dashboards using financial and operational data from systems such as HubSpot, Stripe, QuickBooks Online, payroll platforms, and other client tools.
At Skylight, dashboards are not simply reports—they are an integrated FinOps system: centralized, real-time sources of financial and operational information where clients and department leaders can monitor performance, review historical results, and communicate directly,  without waiting for a reporting cycle or navigating disconnected reports.
Automation is central to how these systems operate. This role will own and improve the connectors, formulas, workflows, and increasingly AI-enabled tools that keep dashboards accurate, up to date, and scalable.
The ideal candidate can turn raw, imperfect data into reliable analysis and present the results clearly, intuitively, and beautifully.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
* Prepare budgets, driver-based forecasts, cash-flow models, and scenario analyses.
* Analyze performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
* Identify the primary drivers of revenue, expenses, margins, and cash flow.
* Support pricing, hiring, investment, and operational decisions.
* Translate financial results into clear recommendations for management.
* Develop KPIs and performance metrics to monitor business health.
Reporting and Dashboard Design
* Build management reports, scorecards, executive dashboards, and board-ready materials.
* Create branded, visually polished reporting that is easy to navigate and understand.
* Apply strong judgment around layout, hierarchy, labeling, chart selection, and visual consistency.
* Surface the metrics, trends, and exceptions that require management attention.
* Make complex financial and operational information clear and actionable.
Data, Systems, and Automation
* Extract, clean, reconcile, and analyze data from HubSpot, Stripe, QuickBooks Online, payroll systems, and other sources.
* Work confidently with CSV exports, transaction-level data, customer records, pipelines, subscription activity, refunds, and processing fees.
* Investigate discrepancies and validate source data before it is used in reporting.
* Build and maintain automated connections between client systems, financial models, and dashboards.
* Own formulas, data structures, and reporting logic so dashboards refresh reliably without manual rebuilding.
* Leverage AI tools (such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) to build formulas, troubleshoot spreadsheets, document processes, and automate repetitive work.
* Continuously identify opportunities to improve data quality and eliminate manual steps through automation and AI.
Client and Team Collaboration
* Present findings clearly to founders, executives, and non-finance stakeholders.
* Help clients define the financial and operational metrics that matter most.
* Work closely with Skylight's partner and senior management team.
* Manage multiple client priorities, deliverables, and deadlines.
* Provide guidance and review support to analysts when appropriate.
* Build trusted relationships through clear communication, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through.
Qualifications
* Five or more years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, management reporting, accounting, or a related field.
* Advanced financial modeling skills, including budgeting, driver-based forecasting, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and long-range financial planning.
* Experience working with CRM, payment, or subscription platforms (such as HubSpot, Stripe, or similar)
* Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
* Experience cleaning, reconciling, and analyzing large or imperfect data sets.
* Strong understanding of financial statements and business-performance metrics.
* Experience creating executive dashboards, management reports, or board materials.
* Strong visual judgment and an eye for design, branding, and readability.
* Comfort using AI tools to build models, troubleshoot spreadsheets, and improve reporting workflows.
* Experience working with APIs or data connectors is a plus.
* Clear written and verbal communication skills.
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or a related field.
* Working knowledge of US GAAP and experience supporting US-based clients.
Preferred Qualifications
* CPA, CMA, or similar certification.
* Experience in consulting, outsourced finance, or another client-service environment.
* Familiarity with QuickBooks Online, Coefficient, Looker Studio, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
* Experience with SaaS, subscription, e-commerce, healthcare, or professional-services businesses.
* Familiarity with metrics such as MRR, ARR, churn, conversion rates, pipeline performance, payment volume, refunds, and processing fees.
* Experience building reporting systems that combine accounting, sales, customer, and operational data.
Compensation
Pay is competitive and reflects both experience and local market conditions. Because we hire globally, compensation is benchmarked by region rather than set to one fixed number.
What Success Looks Like
Within the first six months, this person will:
* Take ownership of forecasting and reporting for assigned clients.
* Deliver accurate, timely, and visually polished dashboards and reports.
* Work independently with raw data from multiple systems.
* Identify data-quality issues, financial risks, and important business trends.
* Become fluent in Skylight's automated, AI-assisted dashboard workflows.
* Improve existing models, dashboards, and reporting processes.
* Produce analysis that helps clients make better decisions.
* Build strong relationships with clients and the Skylight team.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable with financial models, raw data, systems, and executive-facing visuals.
They are curious, resourceful, and willing to investigate discrepancies rather than simply report what a system says. They understand that a dashboard must be accurate, intuitive, and visually polished — and that the purpose of financial reporting is to make complex information easier to understand and act on.
They are excited, rather than intimidated, by automation and AI and are motivated by finding better, faster, and more scalable ways to deliver excellent financial information.
