On Saturday at the UFC Apex, UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo will pick up the torch for the top mixed martial arts promotion. The 10-fight card is headlined by an important UFC women’s flyweight bout.

Here’s how you can watch it.

How to Watch

  • Date: June 13
  • Time, TV and Live Stream: Prelims at 6 pm ET (ESPN and ESPN+) and Main Card at 9 pm ET (ESPN+)

The Draw

Jessica Eye is resilient.

She endured a tough childhood, a four-fight losing streak only to rise to No-1-contender status. Eye got her title shot in 2018 when she suffered a horrific head-kick KO at the hands of Valentina Shevchenko in Chicago.

Eye rebounded with a victory over Viviane Araujo in December 2019 to reaffirm her position as the top contender. Now Eye must turn back another contender looking to use Eye as a trampoline into a title fight with Shevchenko.

Cynthia Calvillo is rugged, skilled and she competes with an attitude. Because of the fighting spirit of both women, this main event has the potential to be hotly contested. There’s definitely enough at stake. A loss for Eye would drop her from position and push back a second shot at the title.

A loss by Calvillo would halt her rise and make a title shot less likely.

The Co-Main Event

Marvin Vettori and Karl Roberson have major beef. The two were supposed to meet in May, but Roberson missed weight and then became ill, and was pulled from the card. Vettori didn’t take too kindly to the cancellation.

He even approached Roberson in the hotel lobby and made a scene that made the rounds on social media:

If this was just done for the smartphone cameras, it worked. Otherwise, the battle between Roberson and Vettori never would have been placed in a co-main-event spot.

Vettori once pushed current middleweight champion Israel Adesanya to the limit in a split-decision loss. A win over Roberson might give him a shot an a ranked opponent, and closure for the beef.

Here is a look at the rest of the card on Saturday:

  • 185 lbs.: Karl Roberson vs. Marvin Vettori
  • 135 lbs.: Ray Borg vs. Merab Dvalishvili
  • 145 lbs.: Andre Fili vs. Charles Jourdain

  • 155 lbs.: Kevin Aguilar vs. Charles Rosa
  • 135 lbs.: Julia Avila vs. Gina Mazany
  • 125 lbs.: Tyson Nam vs. Zarrukh Adashev
