All drivers must have an up to date local “talon” alongside their driver’s license

  • if you do not have this then we can facilitate it for 600TJS

All drivers must have an up to date power-of-attorney (доверенность) to drive the vehicle. This is an annual document that is arranged by the owner of the vehicle so if this is your first time using the vehicle in a given year then we will have to arrange this for you.

  • if you do not have this then we can facilitate it for 350TJS
Both the talon and the power of attorney are documents with 12-month duration. This means if you are a repeat client within 12 months then these admin fees only need to be paid on the first occasion.

Fuel:

We operate a return-as-on-collection policy. If you rent it with half a tank then you return it with half a tank.

Wherever possible the vehicle should be filled at Gazprom gas stations with 92-GDrive or 95/98 fuel. We can facilitate the rental of spare fuel canisters if necessary.

Children:

We can facilitate the rental of booster seats for older children if necessary. At this time we do not have car seats for smaller children available (these can be purchased in Dushanbe). There are no enforced laws in Tajikistan regarding children and car seats or seatbelts in the back seats and they travel there at their own risk. Children under 12 should not travel in the front of the vehicle and you can expect police to enforce that rule.

Itinerary:

We will ask for a basic overview of your planned itinerary for your adventure in Tajikistan

Cleaning:

The vehicle should be returned clean (interior and exterior) - there are plenty of places in the city where this can be done inexpensively. If it is returned dirty then there will be a cleaning fee of a minimum of 200TJS

Insurance:

The vehicle has been insured by the local owner. This is largely to cover major damage or loss of the vehicle. On the whole in Tajikistan in the event of an accident repairs are negotiated by the parties involved and it is often cheaper and more straightforward to simply repair the damage out-of-pocket rather than involving the insurance company. It is highly unlikely that other drivers will be properly or sufficiently insured to cover damage to the vehicle caused by them. Due to the more informal nature of this rental agreement, in the event of damage we will help facilitate a conversation with the owner and appropriate compensation.

As facilitators of the rental we are not responsible for the condition of the car (the local owner is) and we are not liable for any damage to the car or any other vehicles whilst it’s in your possession (you are).

There is no roadside rescue in Tajikistan. If we have to come and recover the vehicle due to driver error (including but not limited to: fuel runs out, vehicle gets stuck in inappropriate terrain, accident where you the client are at fault which renders the car undriveable) then you will be charged additionally for that.

Police:

All of the documents are in order for the vehicle and present in the vehicle. If there are issues with the police on the road regarding the vehicle then the number of the owner is with the documents and he can be called to resolve issues over the phone.

Traffic fines:

You are liable for any traffic fines incurred in the vehicle whilst it’s in your possession. This includes camera fines from around Dushanbe. These can take a while to be issued and so we reserve the right to contact you up to 12 months after the fact to settle up these fines should they occur.

Problems:

If you have issues with the vehicle whilst it’s in your possession then you can contact us and we will do what we can to resolve them. If the car is unusable for the remainder of your rental period then you will be billed only up until the night before you called to report the issue and it was determined that the vehicle was not in a usable state.

Other conditions:

The vehicle may not be taken out of Tajikistan

If the vehicle is left unattended for more than 48hrs then we need to be notified ahead of time. In certain instances we will require that it is left in a secure parking facility and we can help with arranging this.
