FAS has opened a case against Rusal Group

The FAS has opened a case against the Rusal group.

Earlier, due to the revealed signs of violation of antimonopoly legislation, the service warned the group of companies about the need to change the terms of aluminum supply contracts.

In the pricing formula for Russian consumers, the group of companies took into account the regional premium based on the European price index. At the same time, Russian-made aluminum is currently supplied mainly to Asian markets.

This pricing model contains signs of violation of antimonopoly legislation, as it puts Russian refiners at a disadvantage – domestic enterprises paid more for aluminum than foreign ones.

The service notes that the price of aluminum is translated into the cost of a wide range of goods, from packaging to building materials and products for the electric power industry.

After the warning was issued, the group twice applied for an extension of its execution period, however, it did not comply with the requirements of the service.

In this regard, the FAS initiated an antimonopoly case against the company on grounds of imposing unfavorable conditions on Russian processors. If a violation is confirmed, a revolving fine may be imposed on the Rusal Group.
