Nipsey Hussle s sister is petitioning the court for guardianship of her niece. According to documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court earlier this week, Samantha Smith is seeking custody of Hussles daughter , Emani Asghedom. The news comes about a month after Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, was fatally shot outside his clothing store in south Los Angeles. He was 33. According to the docs obtained by ET, Smith lived with Hussle and his daughter from 2008 until around 2014 or 2015 and assisted with Emanis day-to-day care. Even after Smith moved out, she continued to have consistent and frequent contact with Emani on a weekly basis including time during the week, weekends and overnight stays every one to two weeks, the documents state. Smith, according to the docs, is petitioning the court for guardianship to ensure the continued stability for Emani as well as to ensure that she can continue to live with family members with whom she has always had close ties. Emanis mother, Tanisha Foster, is listed as not known at this time in regards to her preference for Emanis legal guardian. Emani, who attended the 2019 GRAMMYs with her dad back in February, has three half siblings, Kross Asghedom on her fathers side and Aasia Goode and Ryan Goode on her maternal side. Following his death, the Los Angeles County District Attorneys Office announced that Eric Ronald Holder was charged with fatally shooting Hussle and wounding two others. The other two men survived.
