different type of computer

There are various types of computers available depending on the number of users they can support at one time, size, and power. At this hub, we will see the difference between supercomputers, mainframes, mini, and microcomputers.

The four basic types of computers are as follows:

1. Super computer

2. Mainframe computer

3. Mini computer

4. Micro computer

SUPER COMPUTER

The most powerful computer in terms of performance and data processing is supercomputer. These are special computers and special tasks used by large organizations. This computer is used for research and exploration purposes, such as NASA using supercomputers to launch a space shuttle, control it, and for space exploration purposes.

MAINFRAME COMPUTER

This is a type of large and expensive computer that is capable of supporting hundreds, or even thousands of users simultaneously. As such, they are mostly used by governments and large organizations for mass data processing, critical applications, transaction processing, censuses, industry and consumer statistics. They are ranked below the supercomputer.

MINI COMPUTER

Mini computers are used by small businesses & companies. Mini computers are also referred to as "Middle Class Computers". It is a small machine and can be accommodated on disks with data processing and storage capabilities unlike supercomputers & mainframes. This computer is not designed for one user. Each department of a large company or organization uses a mini computer for a specific purpose. For example, the production department can use a mini computer to monitor certain production processes.

MICRO COMPUTER or PERSONAL COMPUTER

A personal computer is a computer that is designed to be used by one user at a time. The term microcomputer relates to microprocessors that are used with personal computers for the purposes of data processing and code instructions. These are the most common types of computers because they are not very expensive.

Compared to computers in the late 20th century, today's modern computers are also much more connected to each other thanks to the unrelenting spread of the internet and various web technologies. And this connection has changed the computer itself. Gone are the days of dial-up modems that beep their way to a text-based bulletin board system. Now, computers use WiFi and broadband connections to blaze their way through multimedia content from live streaming news to movies to multi-player games and more.
