I wanna thank my organizers (Cozy Vibes Travel) that I found on a Algerian company list. They were helpful and attentive to my needs and made it possible for me to write this review.

Notre Dame d'Afrique

This summer of 2024, I spent an unforgettable (and long-awaited) vacation in Algeria, which opened the doors to a world of amazing discoveries and things I could hardly expect. When I was planning the trip, I was attracted by the rich history, ancient monuments and extraordinary landscapes of this country. I knew that Algeria is distinguished by its cultural diversity and unique attractions, but the reality exceeded my expectations. Each city I visited was interesting and special in its own way!

The first point of my journey was the capital of Algeria - the city of the same name Algiers, where I arrived after a tiring flight from Europe (yes, such things still happen!). The city amazed me with its harmonious combination of French colonial architecture and traditional Arab heritage from the first sight. One of the highlights I liked most was a walk through the old city - the famous Kasbah of Algiers. Narrow streets, old houses with carved facades and picturesque views of the port - this is something that took me back to the past, when this place was the heart of the ancient city. The Kasbah is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and every street here seems to breathe history.

Of course, I could not help but visit the Basilica of Notre Dame d'Afrique, which is a natural choice for anyone coming to the country and seeking for antique. This majestic structure stands on a hill and offers stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea! The architecture of the basilica is striking in its uniqueness: it combines elements of European style with Arabic motifs, creating a unique atmosphere. A breathtaking view! A walk along the city's embankment delivered vivid impressions, especially at sunset, when the sky was painted in pink and golden hues. Definitely, one of the best days in Algeria, that will forever stay in someone's memory, right?

After a few days in the capital, I went to Oran, the second largest city in Algeria. It was awesome! This city impressed me with its energy and dynamic atmosphere, although sometimes crowds were too much for me. The first thing I did was climbing the Fort Santa Cruz, which was built by the Spanish and is located on a high hill. From the top of the fort, an incredible view of the city and the coast opened up, and I admired the sunset illuminating Oran with warm colors. Such a peace of mind! Then I visited the Bey Palace, a beautiful example of Ottoman architecture where nice snacks are sold nearby. The courtyard of the palace, decorated with colorful tiles, left me with the feeling that I had been transported to another world!

The next stop in my journey was the ancient Roman city of Timgad. This is one of the most impressive archaeological sites I have ever visited! Not only in Algeria, but elsewhere. Timgad has preserved the amazing layout of a Roman city with its streets, temples and an amphitheater, which allows you to imagine life in this place thousands of years ago. I was just struck by the Triumphal Arch, which rises in the center of the city and symbolizes the power of Ancient Rome (seeing this you really understand what power is). I spent the whole day here exploring the ruins and immersing myself in history.

I then decided to immerse myself in the magic of the Sahara desert. I went to the city of Ghardaia, which is located in the Mzab Valley. This city amazed me with its unique architecture and cultural traditions, different from anything I had seen before. The mud houses and narrow streets create a unique atmosphere, and the locals showed how to live in harmony with the harsh desert conditions (few of modern people would undestand). I also went into the desert on a camel (!), where I enjoyed an incredible sunset among the dunes. I wish my wife was with me! It was one of the most peaceful and meditative moments of the entire trip.

The last stop on my trip was the city of Constantine, which is called the "city of bridges". It was built on cliffs, and it seems to hang over abysses. I walked along the numerous bridges that connect different parts of the city, and was especially impressed by the Sidi Msida Bridge that rises above the gorge and offers just unforgettable views! Constantine combines ancient traditions and modern trends, which makes it incredibly interesting to explore. Walking around this city was a wonderful end to my holiday in Algeria. Days passed so fast!

Constantine, the "city of bridges"

My trip to Algeria was a real discovery and lifetime experience! I got acquainted with the rich culture, ancient traditions and magnificent natural landscapes of this amazing country. Each place I visited left a bright mark in my memory, and I am happy to recommend Algeria to all lovers of history and nature. This holiday was a source of inspiration for me and gave me many impressions that I will remember for a long time.

Best
