Ewan McGregor to Star in Motorcycle Biopic

EWAN McGREGOR TO STAR IN NEW BIOPIC ABOUT LEGENDARY MOTORCYCLE ADVENTURIST

Los Angeles, May 9, 2025 — Academy Award-nominated actor Ewan McGregor is set to take on another thrilling real-life role, this time portraying famed motorcycle explorer Ted Simon in an upcoming biopic titled Jupiter’s Travels. The film will chronicle Simon’s epic four-year journey around the world on a Triumph Tiger motorcycle in the 1970s, a trip that inspired McGregor’s own Long Way series.

McGregor, known for his passion for motorcycles both on and off-screen, expressed his excitement about the project: 'Ted Simon’s story is one of incredible courage and curiosity. His journey wasn’t just about travel—it was about human connection and self-discovery. I’m honored to bring his remarkable adventure to life.'

The screenplay, penned by Oscar-winning writer Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), will delve into Simon’s encounters with different cultures, political upheavals, and personal revelations during his 64,000-mile trek.

Director James Marsh (The Theory of Everything) will helm the project, with filming expected to begin in early 2026 across multiple international locations.

Fans of McGregor’s Long Way Round and Long Way Down are already buzzing about the film, hoping for possible cameos from his longtime riding partner, Charley Boorman.
